Role Summary

Specialty Representative, Gastroenterology - Ann Arbor, MI. Execute brand strategy and tactics in field, drive sales performance, manage assigned territory and targeted accounts, build strong customer relationships, and solve customer needs to maximize short and long-term sales performance while operating within AbbVie’s codes, policies, and applicable laws.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver sales performance, brand KPIs, financial targets, and marketing objectives to meet or exceed objectives.
  • Create pre-call plans using SMART objectives and execute post-call evaluations to continuously improve sales performance; handle objections and close on calls.
  • Proactively serve customer needs and expectations to build trusted relationships and achieve win-win agreements.
  • Develop and execute a call plan that achieves set call metrics and optimizes coverage and frequency to key customers to maximize access and sales opportunities.
  • Continuously build understanding of customer needs, territory landscape, competitors, market dynamics, and share market intelligence with in-field team, brand team, and sales manager to align and optimize brand strategy.
  • Differentiate AbbVie’s value proposition with health providers and identify/develop disease state experts and speakers/advocates to maximize brand performance.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in health, sciences, pharmacy, business-related field preferred or relevant and equivalent industry experience required
  • Equivalent experience in lieu of a bachelor’s degree: at least five (5) years in related field with three (3) years in pharmaceutical/health/science industry preferred; high school diploma/GED required
  • Deep scientific, therapeutic, product, and competitive knowledge; strong business acumen; strategic and critical thinking; effective in a matrix environment
  • Proven sales success and strong presentation skills; ability to adapt selling approach to customer style
  • Influences others; credible, collaborative, and able to coach peers through changing environments
  • Leadership experience at district/region/organization level; ability to leverage findings to develop sales strategies
  • Preferred: track record in sales within the therapeutic area; experience in physician/account-based selling, training, managed care, or marketing; English proficiency
  • Must satisfy HCIR credentialing requirements to access facilities and organizations in the territory; must be in good standing or eligible to obtain credentials
  • HCIR requirements may include background checks, drug screens, immunizations, fingerprinting, and state/city licenses; candidate responsible for satisfying all requirements
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to pass pre-employment drug screening; may involve driving personal or company vehicle
