Role Summary
- The Specialty Care Field Medical, Director provides therapeutic area/product expertise to external medical stakeholders and initiatives across an assigned territory.
Role Responsibilities
- Plan and execute independent medical strategies/engagements in-territory; coordinate with Pfizer colleagues to achieve medical objectives.
- Maintain expertise in TA/disease states and Pfizer medicines; provide therapeutic information to internal/external stakeholders.
- Serve as conduit for Medical Information and external insights; share stakeholder viewpoints with Pfizer as appropriate.
- Support medical educational content strategy and execute aligned field medical tactics.
- Deliver scientific communication via live/virtual presentations, written materials, and calls.
- Apply health literacy and cultural awareness to optimize patient care; comply with all policies/procedures.
- Educate external stakeholders based on patient care gaps and aligned medical strategy.
Field Medical Role Responsibilities
- Deliver approved medical content; seek scientific engagement with priority stakeholders.
- Respond to unsolicited direct medical requests with truthful, accurate, scientifically supported information (per Pfizer guidance).
- Lead advisory boards (with manager oversight); manage inbound queries via triage.
- Support clinical trial site identification and ISR process; serve as resource to HQ and investigators.
- Provide study design/methodology/data interpretation concepts; lead territory and patient advocacy group communications.
- Represent Medical Affairs leadership; mentor (onboarding/ad board/study lead); participate in special projects.
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in health science required.
- PharmD/PhD (or equivalent terminal doctorate) highly preferred.
- Relevant experience: PharmD/PhD 5+ yrs; MBA/MSc 7+ yrs; BA/BSc 8+ yrs.
- Demonstrated leadership, communication, interpersonal skills, remote project management/judgment, matrix teamwork, and change agility.
- Ability to adopt digital technology and record medical interactions.
Preferred Qualifications
- Familiarity with SOPs/rules/regulations for Pfizer–external stakeholder interactions.
- Previous Field Medical experience.
- Therapeutic area experience (ATTR-CM or closely related) strongly preferred.
Work/Travel
- Travel 40–50%; operate company car; valid US driver’s license.
- Territory: MN, IL, IN, IA, WI; must reside in one of these states.
