Role Summary: The Specialty Care Field Medical, Director provides therapeutic area/product expertise to external medical stakeholders (EMS) and initiatives in an assigned territory.
Responsibilities:
- Plan and execute compliant Medical strategies and engagements within a territory.
- Maintain knowledge of relevant therapeutic area/disease states and Pfizer medicines.
- Serve as a conduit for Medical Information and share external stakeholder insights with Pfizer.
- Contribute to Medical educational content strategy and execute aligned Field Medical tactics.
- Lead effective scientific communication across channels (live/virtual presentations, written, phone/virtual).
- Optimize patient care communications using health literacy and cultural awareness.
- Conduct all activities per relevant policies, procedures, and compliance guidance.
- Educate external medical stakeholders on patient care gaps and guideline-based care.
- Meet leadership-defined expectations for stakeholder engagement.
Field Medical Role Responsibilities:
- Deliver approved medical content for Pfizer medicines in the designated therapeutic area.
- Identify and engage priority external medical stakeholder segments.
- Respond to direct unsolicited medical requests with truthful, accurate, scientifically supported information.
- Lead advisory boards (BRF, Vendor) with manager oversight.
- Triage and respond to inbound stakeholder queries.
- Partner to identify clinical trial sites, including under-represented patient populations.
- Provide medical support through ISR processes; cultivate research and TA expertise.
- Provide asset leadership; understand and communicate study design/data analysis concepts.
- Lead territory activities; collaborate with patient advocacy groups.
- Serve on cross-functional committees; represent Pfizer Medical Affairs with professionalism.
- Mentor (onboarding partner, advisory board and study lead mentor); support special projects.
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in a health science required.
- PharmD/PhD or equivalent terminal doctoral degree highly preferred.
- Relevant experience: PharmD/PhD (5+ yrs), MBA/MSc (7+ yrs), BA/BSc (8+ yrs).
- Subject matter expert across internal/external stakeholders; excellent oral/written and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to lead/coach, prioritize remote projects, work in a matrixed team, and lead change.
- Demonstrated clinical/technical skills and rapid adoption of digital tools; record medical interactions.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Familiarity with SOPs/rules/regulations for Pfizer/EMS interactions.
- Previous Field Medical experience.
- Therapeutic area experience, including ATTR-CM or closely related disease areas.
Travel/Environment Requirements:
- Travel 40–50%; operate a Pfizer company car; valid US driver’s license; no DUI/DWI or impaired driving citation within 7 years.
