Role Summary
- The Specialty Care Field Medical Director provides therapeutic area/product expertise for the assigned territory across external medical stakeholders (EMS) and initiatives.
Role Responsibilities
- Plan and execute independent Medical strategies and engagements within the territory, coordinating with Pfizer colleagues to achieve Medical objectives.
- Maintain knowledge of therapeutic area/disease states and Pfizer medicines; provide therapeutic area/product information to internal and external stakeholders.
- Serve as a conduit for Medical Information and external medical stakeholder insights; share allowed insights with Pfizer.
- Contribute to Medical educational content strategy and execute aligned Field Medical tactics.
- Ensure scientific communication/collaboration across HQ Medical, Medical Information, and Field Medical colleagues.
- Deliver scientific communications across channels (live/virtual presentations, written, telephone/virtual).
- Optimize patient care improvement using Health Literacy and cultural awareness principles; conduct activities per policies and compliance guidance.
- Educate external medical stakeholders based on patient care gaps and medical strategy.
- Meet leadership expectations for the number of external medical stakeholders engaged.
Field Medical Role Responsibilities
- Deliver approved medical content on Pfizer medicines and relevant therapeutic area topics.
- Seek medical scientific engagements with priority EMS segments; respond to unsolicited medical requests per guidance.
- Lead advisory boards (BRF, Vendor) with manager oversight; triage and field inbound queries.
- Support clinical trials site identification and under-represented patient population inclusion (with IM/SC R&D and GPD).
- Provide Medical support for Investigator Sponsored Research (ISR); cultivate TA expertise and congress/literature awareness.
- Provide asset leadership; understand and communicate study design/methodology/data analysis/interpretation.
- Lead territory execution; coordinate with Patient Advocacy Groups and support committee participation and professional representation.
- Provide mentorship and participate in special projects.
Basic Qualifications
- MD or DO required.
- 4+ years of relevant experience.
- Recognized subject matter expert across internal/external stakeholders.
- Strong leadership, influence/collaboration, coaching, communication (oral/written), and interpersonal skills; manage conflict constructively.
- Ability to prioritize and work in a remote, continuous-improvement environment.
- Ability to lead change and remain adaptable; self-starter with accountability and urgency; strong clinical/technical skills; rapidly adopt digital tools and record interactions.
Preferred Qualifications
- Familiarity with Pfizer/external medical stakeholder SOPs/Rules/Regulations.
- Previous Field Medical experience.
Non-standard Work Schedule / Travel / Environment
- Operate a Pfizer company car; travel ~40β50%; attend external and HQ meetings.
- Valid US driverβs license; DUI/DWI or impaired driving citation within past 7 years disqualifies.
