Role Summary
- The Specialty Care Field Medical, Director provides therapeutic area/product expertise across external medical stakeholders and initiatives in an assigned territory.
Role Responsibilities
- Plan and execute independent Medical strategies/engagements for external medical stakeholders; coordinate with Pfizer colleagues.
- Maintain knowledge of therapeutic areas/disease states and Pfizer medicines; provide TA/product information to internal/external stakeholders.
- Serve as a conduit for Medical Information and external stakeholder insights; share viewpoints with Pfizer as appropriate.
- Contribute to Medical educational content strategy and execute aligned Field Medical tactics.
- Deliver scientific communication via live/virtual presentations, written materials, and calls.
- Optimize patient-care improvement in communications/deliverables using health literacy and cultural awareness.
- Conduct activities per relevant policies/procedures/compliance guidance.
- Educate external medical stakeholders on patient care gaps and guideline-based care.
- Achieve leadership-defined stakeholder engagement expectations.
Field Medical Role Responsibilities
- Deliver approved medical content; identify priority segments for scientific engagement.
- Respond to unsolicited medical requests with truthful, accurate, scientifically supported info in compliance with Pfizer guidance.
- Lead advisory boards (with manager oversight); triage inbound queries.
- Partner on identification of clinical trial sites (including under-represented populations); support ISR.
- Provide Medical resource support for HQ and investigators; cultivate TA expertise (incl. latest literature/congress data).
- Understand study design/data interpretation; communicate concepts to stakeholders.
- Communicate with patient advocacy groups; deliver insights; serve on cross-functional committees.
- Represent Medical Affairs with professionalism; provide mentorship; participate in special projects.
Basic Qualifications (Required)
- MD or DO.
- 4+ years relevant experience.
- Demonstrated leadership, collaboration, coaching, and ability to influence/create business impact.
- Subject matter expert recognized internally/externally.
- Excellent oral/written and interpersonal skills; conflict management.
- Ability to manage remote projects, prioritize, and use sound judgment in continuous improvement.
- Matrix teamwork; lead change; change agility/self-starter with urgency.
- Clinical/technical skills; rapidly adopt digital tools and record medical interactions.
Preferred Qualifications
- Familiarity with internal/external SOPs/rules/regulations for interactions.
- Previous Field Medical experience.
- Experience in relevant TA (ATTR-CM or closely related disease areas).
Non-Standard Work/Travel
- Travel 40β50%; operate Pfizer company car; valid US driverβs license.
- DUI/DWI or impaired driving citation within past 7 years disqualifies.
Benefits/Compensation
- Base salary range: $230,900β$384,800; bonus target 25% and long-term incentive eligibility; comprehensive benefits including 401(k) and health coverage.
