Patient Advocacy
The Virtual Access Specialist is a non-clinical virtual resource available to educate and address Health Care Provider (HCP) questions about patient access and reimbursement for AbbVieβs prescription-based psychiatry portfolio. This remote role calls directly on HCP offices in the assigned geography and provides expertise on coverage and reimbursement barriers to enhance the patient experience.
Specific Responsibilities:
- Educate HCPs on patient support programs, including approved access and reimbursement through AbbVie tools/services.
- Serve as a subject matter expert on local, regional, and national payer policies to educate providers on payer requirements.
- Develop and sustain relationships with providers in the territory; exchange information with Field Reimbursement Managers (FRMs), HCPs, and stakeholders.
- Work in a high cross-matrix environment with sales, market access, and patient service teams to update HCPs on Rx status and program eligibility.
- Use approved resources and data to support HCP education initiatives.
- Identify and report payer trends for approved products to Patient Services and market access account management teams.
- Own process improvement initiatives to improve system efficiency and patient access strategies.
Qualifications:
- Bachelorβs or Associate degree in biological sciences, pharmacy, business-related field, or equivalent (preferred).
- 3β5 years of experience in account management, payer account management, and/or access and reimbursement.
- Thorough understanding of payer policy processes, coverage/coding, prior authorization, and appeal criteria/documentation.
- Demonstrated understanding of rules, regulations, and risks related to reimbursement support services.
- Comprehensive understanding of commercial and governmental payer access dynamics.
- Strong communicator in cross-matrix environments; clear, timely stakeholder communication.
- Critical thinking to assess and prioritize workloads at the account level.
