Specialist (Biologics Pilot Plant (BPP) Operations Team)
Primary Responsibilities
- Execute upstream unit operations: mammalian/yeast/bacterial cell expansion; virus/protein expression in single-use disposable systems and/or stainless-steel bioreactors.
- Perform downstream operations: normal flow filtration, tangential flow filtration, homogenization, lyophilization, chromatography, centrifugation.
- Prepare critical documents including standard operating procedures (SOPs) and batch records.
- Complete production readiness activities such as equipment cleaning and steam sanitization.
- Evaluate and integrate innovative technology/process equipment fit.
- Develop equipment specifications and participate in start-up activities.
- Work in a multi-disciplinary project team environment.
- Troubleshoot process unit operations.
- Lead process unit operation teams and manufacturing steps; plan, communicate, and lead small groups to achieve tactical objectives.
- Participate in preparation, execution, and closeout of GMP pilot-scale campaigns for bulk clinical supplies.
Education Minimum Requirements
- Bachelorโs degree in Chemical Engineering or Biological Sciences with 2 years relevant experience, or Masterโs degree with 1+ year relevant experience.
Required Experience and Skills
- GMP manufacturing of biologics and/or vaccines and/or process development activities.
- Teamwork and collaboration.
- Working knowledge of cGMP, Quality Systems, and safety for operations.
- Self-motivated; able to work in a fast-paced, dynamic setting.
Preferred Experience and Skills
- Organizational, problem-solving, and project management skills.
- Technical background in one or more process unit operations.
- Experience leading small teams in a matrixed organization.
- Decision making, execution excellence, and ownership/accountability leadership skills.
