Purpose
Serve as a skilled specialist in advanced access knowledge and skills, partnering with Field Reimbursement Managers (FRMs) and Health Care Providers (HCPs) in assigned territories to optimize patient outcomes. Provide expertise in local plans and all facets of prior authorization, medical exception, and appeal processes. Take inbound and outbound calls to educate FRMs and HCPs and diminish access barriers. Educate on AbbVie access and reimbursement support tools, advise HCPs on patient program eligibility, and educate HCP offices on payer processes and procedures. Use critical thinking to assess account-level workloads for seamless interactions.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with FRMs and HCPs to enhance patient access and outcomes.
- Educate FRMs and HCPs on patient support programs and resources for access challenges.
- Provide local expertise on prior authorization, medical exception, and appeal processes for inbound/outbound calls.
- Develop relationships with providers; exchange clear information with FRMs, HCPs, and stakeholders.
- Own process improvement initiatives to enhance system efficiencies and patient access.
- Maintain understanding of business procedures, deviations, and case processing as needed.
- Assess and prioritize workloads at the account level.
- Monitor and streamline stakeholder communication to reduce redundancies.
- Meet department performance metrics; uphold required privacy standards; comply with required training, laws, SPII policies/guidelines, and Complete Patient Access and AbbVie policies; perform additional projects as needed.
Qualifications
- Bachelorβs degree or Associate Degree in health sciences or business preferred (comparable/relevant experience considered).
- 3β5 years healthcare industry experience with knowledge of reimbursement, billing, prior authorization, appeals, and specialty pharmacy operations.
- Demonstrated understanding of rules/regulations/risks for reimbursement support services; technical knowledge of coverage, coding, payment, and distribution of specialty products.
- Strong understanding of access and reimbursement support service centers and compliant interactions.
- Thorough understanding of technical payer policy processes, systems, and coverage requirements.
- Professional written and verbal communication skills; maintain a positive service image with challenging issues/unsatisfied customers.
