Position Summary
Senior Vice President, Worldwide Head of Medical Affairs, Neuroscience. Lead integrated worldwide medical strategy/execution across BMS neuroscience (psychiatric, neurodegenerative, neuroinflammatory). Shape portfolio/investment choices and drive scientific/operational excellence from early development through commercialization.
Key Responsibilities
- Own long-range Medical Affairs vision and integrated Neuroscience strategy; set priorities, resource allocation, and measurable outcomes across Global/U.S./International.
- Co-shape enterprise strategy using patient need, emerging science, competitive/access realities, and external innovation.
- Provide enterprise governance: portfolio prioritization; asset/indication sequencing; investment trade-offs; decisions to stop/scale/accelerate.
- Partner across R&D/Discovery to define target profiles, development plans, trial design/endpoints, biomarkers, precision medicine, and evidence requirements.
- Identify unmet needs/evidence gaps; lead translational and real-world evidence strategies.
- Expand clinical value via lifecycle strategy (new indications, combinations, populations, practice-informing and label-enabling evidence).
- Lead integrated evidence/access plans; embed patient journey, health equity, and real-world practice.
- Partner with Business Development on licensing/acquisitions/alliances; lead due diligence input and deal governance.
- Build and lead global, inclusive, cross-functional medical team; establish governance/operating rhythms; use analytics/digital/performance measures.
- Serve as global medical voice; build alliances; elevate BMS scientific reputation.
Qualifications & Experience
- MD/DO required; advanced doctorate in medicine/neuroscience/psychiatry or related.
- 10+ years progressive biopharma leadership with strong Neuroscience and global Medical Affairs and/or Clinical Development.
- Deep expertise in psychiatric, neurodegenerative, or neuroinflammatory disorders.
- Demonstrated enterprise portfolio strategy and measurable outcome translation.
- Preferred: business development, scientific due diligence, external innovation/licensing/acquisitions, alliance governance.
- Required: leadership across major-market and global settings; early/late-stage development, regulatory, evidence generation, launch, lifecycle management.
- Proven ability to lead large geographically distributed matrix teams; exceptional executive communication/judgment; recognized scientific/clinical credibility.
