Role Summary

The Senior Therapeutic Area Specialist (TAS) is a critical field-based role within Bristol Myers Squibb, focused on engaging Health Care Providers (HCPs) to drive adoption of BMS medicines for appropriate patients through a differentiated, science-driven Customer Experience. The TAS builds credibility with regional thought leaders and community-based physicians, collaborating across functions to deliver high-quality Customer Experience while prioritizing safe and appropriate product use and achieving business results.

Responsibilities

  • Promotes approved indications of BMS products within a defined territory to meet or exceed sales targets in a compliant manner.
  • Creates demand by articulating the clinical and scientific rationale for product use in appropriate patients.
  • Maintains and grows a high level of scientific expertise in assigned products and therapeutic areas.
  • Prepares and implements comprehensive territory and account plans.
  • Uses CE^3 and other tools to derive insights and inform call plans; provides feedback to leadership for continuous improvement.
  • Conducts in-office presentations and discusses product-related scientific information with HCPs consistent with label; organizes external speaker programs and manages scheduling/logistics.
  • Maintains working expertise on emerging data for approved indications and responds to unsolicited questions via Medical on Call.
  • Collaborates with other field teams to ensure optimal Customer Experience and shares insights with internal stakeholders; ensures compliance with laws and policies.

Qualifications

  • Advanced scientific degree and/or 5+ years of pharmaceutical/biotechnology experience in healthcare sales, MSL, HCP, or nursing.
  • Ability to communicate scientific/clinical data accurately to help physicians serve patients.
  • Proven credibility with key customers and a customer-centric approach to delivering differentiated Customer Experience.
  • Experience in Oncology is preferred.
  • Strong account management, selling competencies, and a track record of meeting/exceeding goals.
  • Cross-functional collaboration skills with a positive, can-do attitude; strong selling and promotional skills.

Education

  • Advanced scientific degree preferred.

Additional Requirements

  • Vehicle operation as a condition of employment; must meet Qualified Driver requirements (age, license, driving risk level).
  • Ability to travel and work in the field; occupancy model may require onsite/hybrid arrangements as appropriate.
