Position Summary
The Senior Production Planner is responsible for managing production planning activities to meet early to late phase clinical and process development manufacturing requirements, coordinating and improving the production planning function, and participating in the development of an ERP system.
Responsibilities / Essential Functions
- Plan production of finished goods with an ERP system to meet clinical and commercial demand.
- Create and maintain a master production plan and ensure right-time material availability.
- Follow up on production shortages affecting distribution or patient enrollment.
- Develop high-quality supply plans using best-practice processes.
- Define default parameters for all products.
- Extrapolate and summarize data from multiple systems; perform service level and inventory analysis.
- Optimize reporting for daily, weekly, and monthly metrics.
- Perform root cause analysis and recommend actions to minimize future issues.
- Manage/support KPI performance for inventory health, production order management, and manufacturing performance within the ERP.
- Execute/monitor action plans and report progress to improve performance.
- Analyze finished goods inventory to improve efficiency, increase turns, and reduce waste.
- Support cross-functional GxP ERP implementation (data migration, UAT, validation, go-live) for D365 modules.
- Act as SME for ERP GxP operational modules for production planning.
- Create use cases and testing scenarios for production planning tasks.
- Provide business process and configuration feedback to D365 technical team.
- Author and maintain D365 operational SOPs for production planning.
- Ensure regulatory compliance by following established guidelines and corrective action plans.
- Partner with Quality Assurance to provide evidence of adherence to cGMPs and FDA regulations.
- Perform ad-hoc and cross-functional projects as needed.
Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, business, or related field (required).
- 5+ years of relevant progressive experience (required).
- ERP implementation experience (required).
- Pharmaceutical manufacturing/development experience (preferred).
Required / Preferred Skills
- Knowledge of ERP systems (Microsoft AX, SAP, JD Edwards).
- Knowledge of standard office equipment/ability to be trained.
- Knowledge of ERP systems, Windows, and other software.
- Proficiency in MS Office (Excel, PowerPoint).
- Excellent oral/written communication; strong attention to detail and organization.
- Ability to work independently and with a team; strong analytical/technical skills.
Working Environment
- Onsite or remote based on geographic location.
- Monday–Friday, standard business hours; flexibility with manager approval.
- Ability to lift/carry up to 20 lbs.
