Senior Medical Science Liaison (Sr MSL)
Key Duties & Responsibilities
- Develop and foster trusted relationships with Thought Leaders and allied HCPs/stakeholders to support pain condition management and disseminate clinical, scientific, and health economic data for Vertex compounds.
- Use pain expertise to strengthen engagements across academic centers and integrated delivery networks.
- Apply SEM (Scientific Engagement Model) in all interactions; capture feedback in CRM to inform medical strategy and territory planning.
- Use CRM/analytics for timely documentation, TL engagement planning, and workload management.
- Communicate disease state and product clinical/scientific/HE info compliantly.
- Understand regional roles of pharmacists, P&T committees, payers, and integrated delivery networks; support access and appropriate use.
- Support clinical development/operations (IB materials, SIV presentations, trial site nominations, end-of-study reviews).
- Represent Vertex at medical congresses; may serve as “MSL congress lead.”
- Mentor/train colleagues; ensure compliance and timely administrative tasks.
Knowledge/Skills (required/preferred)
- Pain condition experience; appraise medical/scientific literature; present credibly in varied settings.
- Knowledge of regulatory environment, payers, Health Economics/Outcomes Research, and local territory.
- Proficient Microsoft Office; fluent in English & local language.
Requirements
- Advanced biomedical/life sciences degree (MS/NP/PA) or PhD/PharmD/MD desirable.
- Typically 5+ years as an MSL or equivalent pharma/biotech medical affairs experience.
- Live within the North West territory near an airport; routine travel required.
Pay & Benefits (as stated)
- $171,300–$256,900; eligible for annual bonus and annual equity awards; medical/dental/vision, PTO (incl. shutdown), educational assistance, commuting subsidy, 401(k).
