General Summary:
- The Senior Medical Science Liaison (Sr MSL) serves as a scientific liaison to the medical/academic community, building relationships with HCPs to ensure timely, ethical, stakeholder-focused dissemination of clinical/scientific information. Contributes external stakeholder insights to shape the medical plan and supports Medical Affairs strategy and plan execution.
Key Duties And Responsibilities:
- Develops and fosters trusting relationships with Thought Leaders and engages appropriate HCPs to drive scientific engagement across a large network of CF care providers.
- Incorporates all aspects of the SEM into interactions.
- Applies the medical plan to territory planning (listening priorities) and captures feedback in CRM to inform internal stakeholders.
- Uses CRM/data analytics tools for time-sensitive capture and workload management.
- Communicates scientific information compliantly at an advanced level for disease state and product.
- Applies in-depth payer knowledge to understand impact on patient care.
- Supports clinical development/clinical operations: understands IB content; presents at SIV meetings; provides trial-site nominations; supports end-of-study data reviews.
- Represents at medical congresses (sessions/abstracts, booth staffing, TL interactions, summaries; may lead congress debrief/logistics).
- Mentors/trainers less experienced colleagues.
- Conducts all activities per company policy; completes administrative tasks (CRM, mileage, expenses, calendar, training, etc.).
Knowledge And Skills:
- Appraise medical/scientific literature; present credible clinical/scientific information.
- Understand healthcare regulatory environment; use Microsoft Office; work in a matrix.
- Knowledge of disease management, competitors; compliance/regulatory frameworks.
- Knowledge of Health Economics and Outcomes Research; strong payer knowledge.
- Fluent in English and local language (oral/written); valid driver’s license; travel up to 70%.
Education And Experience:
- Advanced biomedical/life sciences degree (e.g., Masters, NP, PA).
- Typically 5+ years as an MSL or equivalent pharma/biotech medical affairs experience.
- Therapeutic area training/experience helpful.
Pay/Benefits:
- Base pay range: $171,300–$256,900. Annual bonus and annual equity awards (and possibly overtime per law). Total Rewards include medical/dental/vision, paid time off, educational assistance (e.g., student loan repayment), commuting subsidy, charitable donation matching, and 401(k).
