Position Summary
Senior Medical Science Liaison (MSL) – Orthopedic franchise (Remote, Northeast). Ideal: New England, New York, or DMV. Requires up to 70% travel.
Responsibilities
- Serve as scientific/clinical expert for Vericel Orthopedics in assigned geography.
- Build and maintain relationships with KOLs, investigators, academic institutions, and HCPs.
- Provide balanced, evidence-based, non-promotional scientific exchange and education.
- Represent the company at congresses, advisory boards, investigator meetings, and medical forums.
- Support non-promotional scientific needs for commercialized and investigational orthopedic products.
- Educate HCPs via presentations, customer visits, investigator meetings, advisory boards, and educational programs.
- Support Medical Affairs planning with scientific insights for evidence generation, lifecycle management, and publication strategy.
- Collaborate on clinical trials and post-market studies; guide Investigator Sponsored Studies (ISS).
- Identify opportunities to strengthen clinical evidence.
- Gather and communicate field insights (scientific/clinical/competitive/system) and translate into actionable recommendations.
- Maintain scientific independence while partnering cross-functionally.
- Participate in internal scientific education and improve field medical effectiveness.
- Ensure compliance with FDA/PhRMA/company policies and maintain required documentation.
Qualifications / Requirements
- Advanced degree: MS, MSN, DPT, PA, NP, PharmD, PhD, or MD.
- 5+ years MSL or equivalent Medical Affairs experience (biotech/pharma/med device/regenerative medicine).
- Expertise in orthopedics, cartilage restoration, sports medicine, regenerative medicine, musculoskeletal therapeutics/cell therapy.
Preferred Skills/Experience
- Experience supporting regenerative medicine/cell therapy products.
- Experience with advisory boards, investigator meetings, or publication planning.
- Mentoring/leadership experience.
- Experience supporting clinical research and evidence generation.
- Strong communication/presentation and ability to build KOL/academic relationships.
- Independent work + cross-functional collaboration; reside near a major airport.
Compensation (stated)
- Salary range: $171,000–$195,000 annually. Bonus/incentive/equity/benefits may be provided.
