Position Summary
The Senior Medical Science Liaison (MSL) provides non-promotional scientific, educational, and research support for the Vericel Orthopedic portfolio. Develops and maintains relationships with key orthopedic experts and supports brand planning across interdepartmental working groups to achieve Medical Affairs and corporate goals.
Responsibilities
- Provide accurate clinical/scientific/medical information to orthopedic experts, HCPs, decision makers, and stakeholders in compliance with company policies.
- Maintain knowledge of orthopedic treatment landscape via conferences/symposiums and key journal review.
- Establish and maintain collaborative relationships with key experts, investigators, and institutions.
- Educate HCPs through presentations, customer visits, investigator meetings, advisory boards, and medical meetings.
- Coordinate support for clinical trial and post-market study sites/investigators with GCP understanding.
- Support and guide investigator sponsored studies (ISS) through internal processes.
- Respond to medical information requests with clear, tailored answers.
- Communicate clinical/research insights to internal teams to guide research, development, and strategy.
- Identify medical community educational needs related to cartilage lesion treatment management and appropriate use of Vericel products.
- Participate in internal training, presentations, and journal clubs; coordinate with Clinical, Regulatory, and Legal.
- Adhere to regulatory and compliance guidelines for scientific dissemination, including unsolicited medical information requests.
Qualifications
- MS/Physical Therapy, RN/BSN, MD, PhD, or PharmD.
- Preferred: experience in orthopedics or cell therapies (transferable musculoskeletal therapeutics experience considered).
- 2β5+ years as a Medical Science Liaison.
- Must live in the Eastern region of the U.S. within 30 miles of a major airport.
- Strong verbal and written communication.
- Ability/willingness to attend surgical procedures; pass hospital credentialing.
- Ability to lift/carry instrument trays and supplies up to 40 lbs.
- Travel up to 70% in the Eastern U.S., including occasional weekend travel.
Benefits/Compensation
- Salary range: $171,000β$200,000 annually; bonus/incentive pay/equity/benefits may be provided.
