Senior Medical Science Liaison - Obesity - CA (field-based)
Territory: Long Beach, Torrance, Riverside, San Bernardino, CA
Responsibilities:
- Serve as primary scientific/clinical resource to Opinion Leaders (OLs), Population Health Decision Makers (PHDMs), and healthcare providers; execute Amgen Medical and product strategy to improve patient outcomes.
- Conduct majority peer-to-peer activities with obesity-related OLs, community providers, and PHDMs; discuss and advance the scientific platform aligned to company goals.
- Engage clinical investigators and sites to support the obesity pipeline.
- Communicate scientific data (clinical value, outcomes, and economic) to PHDMs within assigned IDNs and other institutions.
- Connect external/internal stakeholders; conduct in-depth scientific exchange in line with MSL compliance standards.
- Support Amgen-sponsored research (may serve as study lead); liaison with potential investigators in non-sponsored clinical research.
- Provide field observations/insights to internal stakeholders; lead/support congress activities.
- Support speaker training and ensure speakers are updated on new data.
- Lead/participate on project teams supporting MSL strategies/tactics; partner across field roles to deliver a coordinated “One Amgen” experience.
- Mentor other MSLs; complete administrative responsibilities and required training (e.g., Veeva CRM, expense reports, compliance modules).
- Maintain/improve clinical/scientific acumen; build relationships and communicate scientific data effectively.
Basic Qualifications:
- Doctorate degree + 2 years Medical Affairs experience, OR
- Master’s degree + 6 years Medical Affairs experience, OR
- Bachelor’s degree + 8 years Medical Affairs experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Pharm.D., Ph.D., M.D., or D.O. (other doctoral degrees considered)
- 7+ years medically related field experience incl. 1 year focused on clinical practice/research (post-doctoral training acceptable)
- 2+ years as a medical science liaison in biotech/pharma; current Scientific Affairs/Medical Affairs experience
- Cardiometabolic and/or Obesity expertise
- Experience with designated territory
