Role Summary

Senior Medical Science Liaison (Nephrology) for Povetacicept programs, focusing on IgA Nephropathy. Establishes and maintains relationships with healthcare professionals to disseminate clinical and scientific information, contributes to medical strategy, and engages external stakeholders with up-to-date data.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and foster relationships with Thought Leaders and other appropriate HCPs to engage a network of providers and opinion leaders in nephrology-related care.
  • Incorporate the Scientific Engagement Model into interactions to enhance engagement quality and relationships.
  • Integrate the medical plan into interactions and territory planning, capturing feedback in CRM to inform strategy.
  • Understand CRM/data analytics tools to capture interaction details and inform workload management.
  • Discuss scientific information compliantly with external stakeholders at an advanced level for disease state and product.
  • Understand payers in the region and their impact on patient care delivery.
  • Assist clinical development/clinical operations by understanding and presenting IB content, nominating trial sites, and providing data reviews as needed.
  • Represent Vertex at medical congresses with session/abstract coverage and TL interactions; assist with debriefs and logistics as needed.
  • May mentor or train colleagues, including onboarding; conduct all activities in compliance with policy and perform administrative tasks in a timely manner.

Qualifications

  • Advanced biomedical or life sciences degree (e.g., Masters, NP, PA) required.
  • Minimum 3–4 years of experience as an MSL supporting Nephrology or related medical affairs roles in pharma/biotech, or equivalent.
  • Previous training or experience in the designated therapeutic area is helpful.

  • Ability to meet goals within timeframes and deliver high-quality results.
  • Project planning in a dynamic field-based environment.
  • Ability to appraise medical and scientific literature and present information credibly in varied settings.
  • Strong knowledge of the assigned geographic territory and healthcare regulatory environment.
  • Proficiency in articulating the medical and scientific value of products using HCE/HEOR context.
  • Understanding of compliance/regulatory frameworks; able to conduct compliant interactions.
  • Knowledge of payers and medical information needs to support access and appropriate use of Vertex medicines.
  • Fluent in English (oral and written).

Education

  • Advanced degree in biomedical or life sciences required (e.g., Masters, NP, PA).
