General Summary:
- The Senior Medical Science Liaison (Sr MSL) (Nephrology) for Vertex’s broad Nephrology programs including IgAN and AMKD.
Key Duties And Responsibilities:
- Develop and foster trusted relationships with Thought Leaders (TLs) and engage appropriate HCPs to drive nephrology scientific engagement.
- Apply all aspects of the Scientific Engagement Model (SEM) in interactions.
- Incorporate the medical plan into interactions and territory planning; capture feedback in CRM to inform internal stakeholders.
- Use CRM/data analytics tools for timely documentation and to enhance TL engagements and manage workload.
- Communicate scientific information effectively and compliantly at an advanced level for disease state and product.
- Apply payer knowledge to understand impact on patient care delivery.
- Support clinical development/clinical operations: understand IB content, present IB material, provide trial site nominations, and review end-of-study data with investigators (as needed).
- Represent Vertex at medical congresses (session/abstract coverage, booth staffing, TL interactions, congress summaries; provide debrief/logistics as needed).
- Mentor/train colleagues; assist with new hire MSL onboarding.
- Perform all activities in compliance with Vertex policy and complete administrative tasks (CRM entry, reporting, expenses, calendar, training, etc.).
Knowledge And Skills:
- Time management and ability to deliver high-quality results; plan projects in changing environments.
- Appraise and comprehend medical/scientific literature; present information credibly in varied settings.
- Knowledge of assigned territory, healthcare regulatory environment, and pharma compliance frameworks.
- Knowledge of payers and Health Economics & Outcomes Research.
- Fluent in English (oral and written).
Education And Experience:
- Minimum advanced biomedical/life sciences degree (e.g., MS, NP, PA).
- Minimum 4 years’ experience as an MSL supporting Nephrology programs or other medical affairs roles in pharma/biotech (or equivalent education/experience).
- Prior training/experience in designated therapeutic area helpful.
