Senior Medical Science Liaison (MSL) — Medical Affairs (Field-based)
Responsibilities / Duties:
- Serve as field-based medical expert; conduct mutual scientific exchange with KOLs, HCPs, and stakeholders.
- Demonstrate deep expertise in uniQure gene therapy products and therapeutic areas.
- Build and maintain regional KOL relationships; identify and develop collaborations with key experts, investigators, and institutions.
- Respond to on- and off-label questions with integrity and compliance.
- Represent Medical Affairs at scientific conferences, CME events, and medical meetings.
- Capture and communicate scientific insights to internal stakeholders.
- Support investigator-sponsored studies (ISS): respond to interest and assist via internal processes.
- Support clinical development studies (e.g., investigator/site identification, site initiation visits, operational feedback).
- Provide medical information requests for products and disease areas.
- Train and facilitate speakers; provide medical education for payers, providers, patient advocacy groups, and others.
- Document and forward adverse event reports per company policy.
- Work cross-functionally (Medical Affairs, Clinical Operations, Market Access, HEOR, R&D, Medical Information, Commercial) while maintaining compliance.
- Participate in committees/project teams and perform continuous learning.
Qualifications & Skills:
- PharmD/PhD/MD (preference: neurology and rare diseases).
- Gene therapy experience highly desirable.
- 4+ years MSL experience; biotech preferred.
- Strong scientific/clinical communication and presentation skills; ability to interpret complex data.
- Autonomy, credible expert relationship-building, cross-functional influence, project management, and comfort with ambiguity.
- Thorough regulatory knowledge and understanding of clinical research and healthcare systems.
Travel: Up to 50% (including Lexington office).
