Senior Medical Science Liaison/Medical Science Liaison – South Central Region

Position: Director (or Associate Director) level MSL — Field Medical

Responsibilities:
- Develop and execute US territory strategy (treatment centers, referral networks, transplant/infusion sites, cell-collection capabilities, payers, advocacy groups); prioritize accounts and set measurable objectives.
- Support treatment center onboarding (scientific/operational readiness aligned with SOPs, compliance, and patient journey); partner for qualification and activation.
- Build trusted relationships with KOLs and HCPs; provide fair-balanced, evidence-based education on rare diseases, cell/gene therapy science, and Beam’s platform; foster advocacy.
- Educate stakeholders on disease state, therapeutic landscape, and platform to drive rare disease/CGT awareness.
- Generate actionable insights from field interactions; synthesize trends and communicate recommendations to Medical Affairs leadership and cross-functional partners.
- Collaborate on pre-launch planning with Medical Strategy, Publications, Medical Information, Value & Evidence, and Medical Operations to ensure launch readiness.
- Support clinical research activities (site identification, feasibility, best practices for enrollment/retention) while maintaining medical/scientific independence.
- Coordinate with Commercial, Market Access, and Clinical teams while preserving medical independence; align account plans to ensure patient access and avoid duplication.
- Represent the company at congresses/external scientific meetings; plan presence and follow up.
- Provide education/resources to treatment centers on operational readiness for advanced therapies (e.g., apheresis, cell-handling).
- Ensure interactions/materials meet compliance and industry ethical codes.
- Maintain operational excellence (CRM documentation, KPI monitoring, continuous process/content/tool improvement).
- Prepare/deliver training for internal teams and external stakeholders.
- Serve as a scientific ambassador; monitor evolving evidence/competitive landscape and share updates.

Qualifications:
- Advanced scientific degree (PharmD, PhD, MD, or equivalent).
- ~10+ years Medical Affairs experience with significant Field Medical tenure.
- Rare disease expertise required; hematology strongly preferred with emphasis on SCD.
- Small biotech experience preferred (impact in resource-constrained settings).
- Launch experience (pre-approval to post-launch), ideally in CGT or complex specialty.
- Proven territory management/account planning across academic/community/payer/advocacy ecosystems.
- Independent, proactive, strong ownership.
- Cross-functional collaboration (Clinical, Regulatory, Commercial, Medical Ops, Publications) with medical/scientific integrity.
- Excellent communication; strong analytical skills.
- Travel up to ~60% across assigned territory.
