Senior Medical Science Liaison (MSL) – Dermatology (Northern New Jersey territory)
Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement a scientific engagement plan aligned with Medical Affairs strategy and approved assets.
- Conduct high-quality two-way scientific exchange with KOLs and HCPs; identify trends, unmet needs, and educational gaps.
- Cultivate relationships with community and academic HCPs/KOLs to advance scientific credibility.
- Use MSL tools and insights to enhance territory engagement; proactively uncover gaps, risks, and opportunities.
- Leverage AI tools to improve decision-making, streamline processes, and enhance outcomes.
- Identify provider educational needs and deliver tailored, balanced scientific information.
- Translate complex clinical evidence into meaningful discussions; adapt communication and correct misunderstandings.
- Generate and share actionable insights to inform medical strategy, asset planning, and cross-functional discussions.
- Support investigators and internal partners for company-sponsored and investigator-initiated studies.
- Respond to unsolicited research/clinical inquiries with objective, compliant information.
- Collaborate compliantly with internal stakeholders (R&D, Global Medical Affairs, Clinical Operations; as appropriate with Sales/Marketing).
- Maintain scientific acumen through ongoing learning (journal clubs, seminars, congresses).
- Support inclusion and belonging and One J&J goals.
- Understand and apply regulatory/healthcare compliance guidelines, Medical Affairs SOPs, and conduct ethical business.
- Manage performance/development planning and complete administrative requirements (e.g., expenses, documentation).
Qualifications:
- Doctorate degree or equivalent experience required (PharmD, PhD, MD, etc.); post-graduate experience required; preference for therapeutic clinical experience.
- 2+ years relevant experience, including demonstrated success as an MSL.
- Strong scientific/therapeutic expertise and skills in research, data analysis, clinical expertise, problem-solving, strategic thinking, and cross-functional collaboration.
- Up to 70% travel.
- Valid US Driver’s License.
Preferred:
- Residency/fellowship; therapeutic area knowledge.
- Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, CoPilot; comfort with computers and remote technologies.
- Demonstrated commitment to learning emerging technologies (e.g., AI).
- Related clinical, research, or pharma work experience.
Benefits/Pay (if included):
- Anticipated base pay range: $137,000.00 - $235,750.00
- Vacation: 120 hours/year; Sick time: 40 hours/year (CO: 48; WA: 56); Paid holidays (incl. floating): 13 days/year; Parental leave: 480 hours; Bereavement leave: 240 hours (immediate family) plus 40 hours extended family; Caregiver leave: 80 hours; Volunteer leave: 32 hours; Military spouse time-off: 80 hours/year.
