About the Role
The Senior Medical Science Liaison is a remote, field-based, external customer-facing member of the US therapeutic area medical unit team. Responsibilities include analyzing, interpreting and disseminating scientific data; acquiring and translating customer insights; fostering external expert networks; and compliantly connecting customers to advance medical strategy and improve patient outcomes. Reports to the Director, Field Medical - West Gastroenterology. Territory includes NE, MO, KS.
How you will contribute
- Build and maintain professional relationships with KOLs/HCPs per territory plans aligned to medical strategy.
- Analyze and interpret complex scientific information and disseminate to KOLs/HCPs in a compliant, fair-balanced, non-misleading manner.
- Support Takeda-sponsored research; facilitate medical collaborative studies and investigator-initiated research processes.
- Collect, interpret, and internally communicate medical insights from KOLs/HCPs to inform and refine medical strategies/tactics.
- Identify and cultivate partnership opportunities between KOLs/HCPs and Takeda US Medical.
- Participate in executing medical strategy at medical conferences; communicate insights from poster/session attendance and KOL/HCP interactions.
- Respond to unsolicited HCP medical information inquiries referred by Medical Information within timelines and quality standards.
- Complete required customer activity documentation (e.g., CRM entries, insights capture), training, expense reporting, and other administrative responsibilities in a timely, accurate, compliant manner.
Minimum Requirements/Qualifications
- Master’s degree in health sciences (MSN, NP, or PA) minimum; Doctoral degree preferred (PharmD, MD, PhD, or equivalent).
- Minimum 2 years of experience as a field-based MSL in the pharmaceutical industry.
- Excellent written/verbal communication, organization, and collaboration skills.
Other Desired Experience/Skills
- Dissemination of complex scientific data to healthcare audiences; relevant therapeutic area knowledge.
- Clinical, research, and/or teaching experience.
- Ability to work effectively in virtual and cross-functional teams.
- Execution within legal, regulatory, and compliance requirements.
Travel requirements
- Up to 70% travel, including some overnight and weekend.
- Ability to drive and/or fly to meetings; clean and valid driver’s license.
Takeda Compensation and Benefits Summary (Kansas - Virtual)
- U.S. Base Salary Range: $151,100.00 - $237,490.00
- Potential eligibility for incentives and benefits (medical/dental/vision, 401(k) match, disability, life insurance, tuition reimbursement, paid volunteer time off, holidays, well-being benefits; up to 80 hours sick time; up to 120 hours paid vacation for new hires).
