What You’ll Do
- Provide talent development and performance management to a team of SMA/ALS Medical professionals.
- Build and maintain close partnerships with key medical experts and healthcare providers to bring insights to the Global Medical Affairs strategy.
- Provide expert medical input to guide clinical development, evidence generation, and launch planning.
- Represent Global SMA Medical at forums and governance meetings (e.g., PDC, Regulatory forums, R&D, safety) and partner with PDC, ICOE, and regions to deliver SMA/ALS portfolio strategic plans and communicate impactful deliverables.
- Develop and implement cross-functionally aligned medical strategies supporting clinical development, launch planning, and TA-related projects; oversee high-impact medical activities (advisory boards, medical education, integrated evidence generation).
- Review key manuscripts and publications; act as primary sign-off where needed.
- Identify and advance collaborations with external stakeholders, including healthcare and patient advocacy organizations.
- Create a positive team climate aligned with the company culture.

Who You Are
- Scientific/clinical professional leader with deep knowledge of SMA/ALS/rare diseases; strong communicator and collaborator.

Required Skills
- Advanced degree required: MD preferred; PhD or PharmD.
- 8–10+ years’ Medical Affairs experience.
- Relevant experience in SMA/rare diseases.
- Experience developing, communicating, and executing comprehensive medical affairs strategy.
- Ability to build productive collaborations and leverage rare disease relationships.
- Working knowledge of US and ex-US regulations relevant to Medical Affairs.
- Agile self-starter comfortable operating in ambiguity.
- Excellent verbal and written communication.
- Proven track record delivering results against targeted objectives.

Preferred Skills
- Experience building and leading medical teams.
- Experience with medical launches and products across the lifecycle.
- Ability to lead and collaborate with global/regional/affiliate medical to align regional execution to global strategy.
- Project management skills and initiative to solve complex problems.
