Senior Manager, US Primary Market Research (Business Analytics & Insights)
Flexible commuter role to Thousand Oaks, CA or Deerfield, IL (on-site minimum 2 days/week).
What You Will Do
- Strategic thought partner to brand and cross-functional teams, generating rigorous, business-relevant insights to inform brand strategy, execution, and decision-making.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Thought Partnership
- Primary PMR thought partner to Commercial/brand teams; guide framing of business questions and translate insights into implications.
- Internal consulting: identify the “so what” and “now what” to move from data to decisions.
- Support annual activities (brand planning, executive reviews, budgeting, business cases) with objective, insight-driven guidance.
Insight Generation & Interpretation
- Lead interpretation/synthesis of primary market research using dashboards, analytics tools, and MRAgent capabilities.
- Surface insights, risks, opportunities, and strategic tradeoffs.
- Integrate learnings across studies/time/data sources for coherent brand/portfolio performance.
Data & Business Rule Ownership
- Own KPI definitions, business rules, and analytic intent; ensure clarity, consistency, and trend continuity.
- Ensure questionnaire/metric/data cut changes are intentional, documented, and aligned.
- Maintain data quality, methodological rigor, and longitudinal integrity.
Team Leadership & Development
- Manage and coach direct reports; build skills and business context.
- Partner with PMR/BAI teams to develop judgment and stakeholder confidence.
- Prioritize/balance business asks for highest-value insights.
Stakeholder Enablement & Change Leadership
- Manage expectations for self-service vs. value-add PMR.
- Facilitate strategic discussions; support adoption of new tools/ways of working.
Capability & Process Advancement
- Evolve PMR capabilities/methodologies/tools; improve efficiency, consistency, and impact.
What We Expect Of You
- Basic Qualifications:
- Doctorate + 2 years experience in analytics, sales, marketing, or related OR
- Master’s + 4 years experience OR
- Bachelor’s + 6 years experience
- Preferred Qualifications:
- Pharmaceutical/life sciences experience
- Deep expertise in primary market research (qualitative/quantitative)
- Strong analytical skills; translate complex data to actionable insights
- Strategic thinking; ability to influence decisions
- Excellent written/verbal/facilitation skills with senior audiences
- Cross-functional collaboration in matrixed environments
- Experience coaching/managing a team
