Lead Publications Teams in the execution of publication plans for assigned assets, and oversee scientific publications (clinical manuscripts, abstracts, posters, oral presentations) that fulfill strategic publication plan and scientific communications objectives. Ensure the Publication Plan aligns with the strategic publication plan (Scientific Communication Platform lead) or Medical Affairs plans. Partner with the Publications Director to align and optimize resources and personnel. Provide managerial oversight including performance assessment, training/feedback, resolution of personnel issues, and talent retention.
Responsibilities:
- Serve as leader of cross-functional Publications Team(s) for assigned assets; lead team meetings/discussions and drive publication plan execution with input from key global stakeholders.
- Lead tactical execution of publication plans, meeting timelines and budgets.
- Review publications in assigned therapeutic area to ensure quality and alignment.
- Partner with Scientific Communications Director for transfer of the scientific publications strategic plan and pull-through to tactics.
- Partner with Publications Director to project/manage outsourcing budgets and internal resources.
- Oversee internal/external medical writers to ensure high-quality, timely deliverables and adherence to Publication Policy/procedures.
- Direct external vendors to deliver quality publication outputs within timelines.
- Manage performance assessment, training/feedback, issue resolution, and talent retention for direct reports.
- Resolve publications-related issues; ensure publication records and resourcing tools are accurate/up-to-date.
Qualifications:
- Bachelorβs required; PhD/PharmD/Masterβs preferred. CMPP/AMWA preferred/plus.
- 4β5 years medical/scientific publications experience; pharmaceutical industry or medical communications agency experience required.
- Leadership ability; ability to interpret medical data.
- Preferred: product therapeutic area knowledge. Required: statistical concepts/techniques knowledge.
- Knowledge of publication structure/quality and scientific publication regulations/best practices.
- Excellent written/verbal communication; ability to present to senior-level audiences.
- Collaborative cross-functional teamwork and relationship-building.
- Ability to form/maintain/lead productive cross-functional teams.
- Microsoft Office and internet navigation proficiency essential.
