Purpose
Lead Publications Teams in the execution of publication plans for assigned assets and oversee scientific publications that fulfill strategic publication and scientific communications objectives. Ensure publication plans align with strategic plans. In partnership with the Publications Director, align and optimize resources/personnel. Provide managerial oversight including performance assessment, training/feedback, issue resolution, and talent retention.

Responsibilities
- Lead cross-functional Publications Teams for assigned assets; run team meetings and drive publication plan execution with input from global stakeholders
- Lead tactical execution of publication plans (clinical manuscripts, abstracts, posters, oral presentations) meeting timelines and budgets
- Review all publications in assigned therapeutic area for quality/alignment
- Partner with the Scientific Communications Director to transfer the strategic publication plan and ensure pull-through to tactics
- Partner with Publications Director to project/manage outsourcing budget and internal resourcing
- Manage internal/external medical writers to deliver high-quality, timely work per Publication Policy/Procedures
- Direct external vendors to deliver publication projects within timelines and quality standards
- Perform direct-report performance assessments; provide training/feedback; resolve personnel issues; manage retention
- Address publications-related issues; ensure publication records and resourcing tools are accurate/up to date

Qualifications
- Bachelor’s required; PhD/PharmD/Master’s preferred. CMPP/AMWA (or similar) preferred/plus
- 4–5 years medical/scientific publications (or related) experience; pharmaceutical industry/medical communications agency experience required
- Demonstrated leadership capacity
- Ability to understand/interpret medical data
- Knowledge of clinical/scientific publication structure/quality; scientific publication regulations and best practices
- Working knowledge of statistical concepts/techniques required; therapeutic area knowledge preferred
- Excellent written/verbal communication; proven presentations to senior audiences
- Strong cross-functional relationship building and teamwork/leadership track record
- Ability to form/maintain/lead productive cross-functional teams
- Microsoft Office and internet navigation proficiency essential
