Position Summary
The Senior HVAC Technician ensures the functionality and regulatory compliance of heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems for scientific environments. Installs, inspects, and repairs HVAC systems per safety protocols and industry standards. Collaborates with facility managers and quality systems to optimize environmental conditions. Develops programs, budgets, and project plans for new construction, relocation, and expansions for a multi-site healthcare company (Dallas, TX; Phoenix, AZ) and maintains existing building HVAC systems.
Job Responsibilities
- Establish relationships with departmental leads and develop/implement facilities requirements for expanding business units.
- Install, maintain, and repair heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems.
- Monitor HVAC systems and ensure preventive maintenance is completed per schedule/standards.
- Respond to hot/cold call issues and resolve problems.
- Provide vendor management/oversight.
- Inspect, repair, and/or replace HVAC components (valves, motors, controls, switches, gauges, wiring, fans, pumps, compressors, condensers, etc.).
- Perform work following established safety procedures and applicable OSHA/local safety requirements.
- Document work in the CMMS.
- Participate in safety meetings, safety training, and hazard assessments.
- Estimate time/material costs on HVAC projects.
- Verify and implement preventive maintenance standards on HVAC equipment.
- Operate and maintain building automation system.
- Other duties as assigned; ability to work a flexible schedule.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED.
- 5 years of related work experience.
- EPA CFC Universal Certificate.
- Building Management System (BMS) operation and controls.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and general business internet use.
- Pre-employment: criminal background check, drug screening, and reference check.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in a highly regulated environment.
- HVAC experience in clean rooms and/or life sciences industry critical environments.
- Building facility maintenance experience (e.g., drywall, plumbing, and other facility upkeep tasks).
Other / Work Conditions
- Periodic travel; some evenings/weekends/holidays.
- May require after-hours emergency response and on-call coverage.
Physical Demands
- Ability to sit/stand and work at a computer for long periods.
- Exposure to blood-borne pathogens, extreme temperatures, high noise, fumes, and bio-hazardous chemicals (e.g., formalin) in lab environment.
- Repetitive motion; lift up to 30 pounds.
Training
