General Summary:
- Senior Director (non-MD) US Medical Affairs asset lead responsible for strategic planning and execution of launch and lifecycle assets in the Vertex nephrology portfolio.
Responsibilities:
- Develop, execute, and refine US Medical Affairs strategic/operational plan for assigned nephrology asset(s) from pre-launch through lifecycle.
- Serve as primary medical-scientific authority; interpret data (clinical trials, RWE, literature) and translate insights into medical strategy.
- Build trusted relationships with US nephrology thought leaders, academic investigators, and external experts to inform evidence generation.
- Partner cross-functionally with Commercial, Market Access, HEOR, Regulatory, Clinical Development, and Corporate Communications to ensure aligned launch readiness.
- Design and execute medical evidence generation initiatives (ISR, advisory boards, medical education).
- Deliver compliant, fair, balanced scientific presentations/communications to HCPs, payers, and stakeholders.
- Provide scientific input into promotional and non-promotional material review (CRC/MLR) to substantiate claims and ensure compliance.
- Establish and track medical KPIs; use scenario planning/market foresight to adapt in a dynamic launch environment.
- Ensure activities comply with applicable policies, laws/regulations, GCP, ICH, and codes of practice.
Qualifications:
- Terminal doctoral degree (PhD, PharmD, MD, DO, or equivalent).
- 10+ years pharmaceutical/biotech Medical Affairs or related scientific experience.
- 3+ years supervisory/people management experience.
Skills/Requirements:
- US medical launch strategy execution; strong EQ and relationship-building.
- Proven cross-functional matrix execution; strong nephrology/immunology or related therapeutic area knowledge.
- Excellent written/oral communication; ability to analyze complex data and translate into strategy.
Preferred:
- Prior launch experience in nephrology, immunology, or rare disease.
- Experience leading Medical Directors/Associate Medical Directors.
- Nephrology-specific expertise (preferred).
Compensation:
- Pay range: $252,000–$378,000. Eligible for annual bonus and annual equity awards.
