Role Summary
Senior Director, R2R Strategy & Optimization. Leading the strategy and roadmap for Records-to-Report process improvement within Global Accounting; focusing on measurement, stakeholder alignment, and delivering innovative solutions to advance accounting and reporting processes.
Responsibilities
- Support baselining of current state R2R process, including process maturity, stakeholder sentiment, and development of metrics to assess performance.
- Identify and implement standardization and simplification opportunities to reduce complexity while maintaining internal controls.
- Recommend and implement process improvements using technology and automation to enhance R2R efficiency and effectiveness.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with Accounting, Finance, Investor Relations, IT, Legal, Treasury, and Tax to align goals for R2R delivery and improvement imperatives.
- Design, oversee, and monitor a portfolio of R2R projects with near-term focus on optimizing and accelerating close and external reporting.
- Manage external vendors to ensure successful delivery of R2R initiatives.
- Explore emerging technologies, prepare business cases to secure support and funding for improvement projects.
- Communicate roadmap and vision for R2R process excellence to stakeholders across the enterprise.
- Set and achieve annual continuous improvement targets and support leaders in policy and strategy development.
- Own global R2R process quality, simplicity, and accelerated close/reporting outcomes to drive stakeholder satisfaction.
Qualifications
- Deep expertise in R2R processes, accounting, finance, and enabling technologies.
- Proven success in R2R optimization, including process documentation, performance measurement, continuous improvement, stakeholder engagement and change management.
- Strong business acumen and understanding of best practices in optimizing R2R capabilities.
- Continuous improvement mindset with interest in emerging tools and technologies.
- Ability to lead matrix activities for major projects with strong project management skills.
- Ability to build business cases for change and influence leadership to secure funding.
- Strong relationship-building, verbal and written communication skills; ability to engage cross-functional stakeholders.
- Experience with solution teams (PMO, RPA, continuous improvement) to drive projects.
- Agility in leading others through change and ambiguity.
- Experience shaping global R2R policy and standardizing procedures across geographies and systems.
- Strong understanding of internal controls and compliance requirements.
Education
- Bachelorβs degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or related field required.
- MBA, MSA, or equivalent advanced degree preferred.
- Typically 12+ years of experience in finance or accounting within large, complex organizations.
- Big 4 and life sciences industry experience strongly preferred.
- CPA or equivalent certification preferred.
- Demonstrated success in leading process transformation initiatives in accounting or finance.
Additional Requirements
- Stakeholder interactions primarily in Boston, MA or virtual with international colleagues.
- Optional travel opportunities may exist to meet regional stakeholders and oversee implementations impacting other regions or for industry conferences.
