The Senior Director, Patient FIND is the function head for BioMarin’s data-driven patient identification capability (Pathway AI).
Responsibilities:
- Define the operating model, scope, and accountability across Commercial, Medical, DTA (Digital, Technology & AI), and R&D co-leadership.
- Establish enterprise standards for patient signal design, data source evaluation, lead scoring, model governance, and outcome measurement across disease areas.
- Build and maintain the investment case linking capability activity to patient outcomes and commercial value (LRP/AOP/SteerCo).
- Engage existing patient-find initiatives (newborn screening, genetic testing, advocacy, inbound referrals) to determine ownership vs coordination and integration with Pathway AI.
- Transition from vendor tools to an internally owned proprietary patient identification platform (models, data assets, learning).
- Oversee integration of the data signal stack (claims, tokenized longitudinal records, LLM-read physician notes, specialty pharmacy, genomics, digital intent).
- Drive digital intent strategy and consent-compliant engagement from pre-diagnosis to treatment initiation.
- Build closed-loop feedback (field call notes + patient outcomes) and enforce signal-to-action SLAs (sub-48-hour target).
- Recommend portfolio rollout sequencing; co-design medically valid and commercially actionable criteria.
- Recruit/build a multidisciplinary team; drive adoption across field/Brand/Medical/Patient Services.
- Provide executive governance: funding decisions, milestone accountability, ROI reporting, and investment case storytelling.
Qualifications:
- Required: 12+ years progressive biotech/pharma commercial strategy/analytics/operations with meaningful rare disease experience; built functions from scratch; deep rare disease patient identification knowledge; healthcare data infrastructure command; AI/advanced analytics experience in commercial context; influence without full authority; executive communication; people leadership; Bachelor’s required.
- Preferred: LLM-based clinical signal extraction/NLP; digital intent infrastructure experience; HIPAA/CCPA/GDPR privacy-by-design; rare disease launch/go-to-market or top-of-funnel strategy; experience in co-leadership dual-reporting models.
