Role Summary

Senior Director of ERP and Manufacturing Systems

Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute a comprehensive global ERP and manufacturing systems strategy aligned with Bio-Techne's business objectives and growth targets
  • Establish and maintain governance frameworks, policies, and best practices for ERP and manufacturing systems
  • Lead the creation of technology roadmaps for manufacturing operations, balancing innovation with operational stability
  • Serve as the executive sponsor for major ERP, manufacturing and distribution systems implementations, upgrades, and integration projects
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with executives, providing strategic counsel on technology investments and digital transformation initiatives
  • Represent IT's interests in Operations leadership forums and vice versa, ensuring alignment on strategies and priorities
  • Direct the implementation, configuration, integration, and ongoing management of ERP systems across the enterprise
  • Oversee the development of custom solutions, extensions, and integrations to address unique business requirements
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to maximize the value derived from ERP investments
  • Lead system performance monitoring, security management, disaster recovery planning, and compliance efforts
  • Ensure seamless integration between ERP and other enterprise systems (MES, PLM, QMS, LIMS, CRM, etc.)
  • Champion the adoption of emerging technologies such as AI, IoT, and advanced analytics to enhance ERP capabilities
  • Oversee the design, implementation, and optimization of manufacturing execution systems (MES) that support Bio-Techne's diverse production environments
  • Ensure manufacturing systems meet the specific requirements of life sciences manufacturing, including validation, compliance, and traceability
  • Direct the integration of shop floor systems with enterprise applications to enable real-time data visibility and decision-making
  • Lead initiatives to digitize and streamline production processes, including electronic batch records, digital work instructions, and automated quality checks
  • Implement advanced manufacturing analytics to drive operational improvements, reduce waste, and enhance product quality
  • Build, mentor, and lead a high-performing team of ERP, manufacturing and distribution systems professionals
  • Foster a culture of innovation, continuous improvement, and technical excellence
  • Develop talent through coaching, training, and career development opportunities
  • Recruit top-tier technical and managerial talent to support organizational growth
  • Promote cross-functional collaboration and knowledge sharing across IT and Operations teams
  • Develop and manage annual operating and capital budgets for ERP and manufacturing systems
  • Establish clear KPIs and metrics to measure the success of technology investments
  • Oversee the financial aspects of major system implementations, including ROI analysis, TCO calculations, and budget tracking
  • Lead vendor selection, contract negotiations, and relationship management for ERP and manufacturing systems
  • Implement project management methodologies and governance frameworks to ensure on-time, on-budget delivery of strategic initiatives
  • Ensure all ERP and manufacturing systems comply with relevant regulatory requirements (FDA, EMA, ISO, etc.)
  • Oversee system validation processes in accordance industry standards
  • Implement robust data integrity and security measures to protect sensitive information
  • Lead audit preparation and remediation efforts related to ERP and manufacturing systems
  • Develop comprehensive business continuity and disaster recovery plans for critical manufacturing systems

Qualifications

Education & Experience

  • Degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, Business Administration, or related field; MBA preferred
  • Minimum of 15 years of progressive experience in ERP implementation and management, with at least 10 years in senior leadership roles
  • Proven track record leading enterprise-wide ERP implementation and optimization initiatives
  • Extensive experience in manufacturing systems (MES, PLM, QMS, LIMS) implementation and integration
  • Demonstrated success leading digital transformation initiatives in manufacturing operations
  • Experience in regulated life sciences or medical device manufacturing environments
  • Background in global operations with multi-site responsibilities preferred
  • Certification in relevant areas (PMP, APICS, Six Sigma, ITIL) preferred

Technical Knowledge

  • Expert-level understanding of Microsoft Dynamics 365 Finance and Operations modules, particularly those related to manufacturing and supply chain preferred
  • Deep knowledge of manufacturing execution systems (MES) and their integration with ERP
  • Strong familiarity with industry 4.0 concepts, IoT, and advanced manufacturing analytics
  • Understanding of GxP regulations and computerized system validation requirements
  • Working knowledge of data management, business intelligence, and enterprise integration patterns
  • Familiarity with cloud infrastructure and SaaS deployment models

  • Strategic vision and ability to translate business requirements into technology solutions
  • Exceptional leadership capabilities with experience managing diverse, global teams
  • Strong financial acumen with budget management experience of $5M+
  • Excellent project and program management skills
  • Outstanding communication and presentation abilities, capable of engaging effectively with C-suite executives
  • Demonstrated change management expertise and ability to drive organizational adoption
  • Collaborative approach to problem-solving with strong stakeholder management skills
  • Resilience and ability to thrive in dynamic, fast-paced environments

Travel Requirements

  • 25-30% travel required, both domestic and international, to support global manufacturing operations and system implementations
