Sr. Director, Medical Science Liaison
Purpose: Lead and manage a team of Medical Science Liaisons (MSLs). Provide national field strategic leadership, leverage MSL scientific/clinical expertise to ensure impactful interactions with Scientific and Clinical Experts (SEs/CEs), and build relationships with internal/external partners in the therapeutic area.
Primary Responsibilities
- People Leadership & Development: Set vision/expectations; coach performance; foster accountability; recruit/hire/develop/promote; conduct scheduled field interactions/feedback; support succession planning and field medical qualification.
- Field Coaching: Partner with internal medical/development/commercial teams; engage Regional Health Care Market (RHM) forums; provide progressive coaching and competency upskilling; document field coaching notes; collaborate on medical account management upskilling.
- TA Expertise, Strategy Integration & Execution: Build/regionalize field medical strategies and business plans; align MSLs to clinical/scientific objectives and evidence generation; collaborate with MSL leadership; support congress staffing and ensure clinical insights are communicated; oversee congress activities (messaging, abstracts, symposia) with internal stakeholders.
- Operational Excellence: Oversee quality/compliance/effectiveness; ensure compliance with policies/laws/regulations; ensure documentation processes; analyze MSL activity data; manage finance/HR issues; drive process improvement.
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree; 3+ years people leadership; 5+ years industry and clinical/medical experience.
- US work authorization required; sponsorship/visa support not provided.
Additional Preferences (selected)
- Health sciences or advanced medical degree (e.g., RN/RPh/PA/NP; PharmD/MD/PhD); experience with field/scientific strategy and learning agility; strong communication and leadership through people.
Additional Information
- Up to 50–75% travel; field-based US role (central region).
Compensation/Benefits (as stated)
- Anticipated base pay: $195,000–$314,600; eligibility for company bonus; comprehensive benefits (401(k), pension, vacation, medical/dental/vision, flexible benefits, life insurance, time off/leave, well-being).
