Senior Director, Market Research & Competitive Intelligence
Responsibilities:
- Own and lead end-to-end market research across in-line and pipeline brands; provide insights leadership and ensure alignment with business objectives
- Synthesize market, customer, competitive, and business intelligence to assess market dynamicsβ impact
- Establish, oversee, and execute primary research (ATU studies, message testing, positioning, segmentation, and related initiatives)
- Lead enterprise competitive intelligence and market landscape strategy; translate insights into actionable recommendations
- Present integrated findings and recommendations to Executive Leadership and senior cross-functional stakeholders
- Direct situation assessments, market evaluations, and competitive analyses to inform brand planning and business strategy
- Set governance, policies, quality standards, and compliant practices for primary market research
- Partner with commercial/brand leadership on launch, growth, and lifecycle strategies (patients, providers, payers, market dynamics)
- Lead patient/provider journey frameworks, unmet need assessments, and influence mapping
- Oversee research partner/vendor relationships, contracts, and investments; manage research budget priorities and resources
- Lead/contribute to cross-functional initiatives and perform other duties as assigned
Minimum Requirements:
- 15+ years (BS) or 13+ years (MS) in strategic market research/insights/analytics and competitive intelligence, including 10+ years leading within pharma/biotech/medical devices
- Demonstrated end-to-end primary research leadership (qual + quant), including study design, vendor oversight, budgeting, and executive insight delivery
- Ability to translate external understanding into strategic influence across portfolio/brand/launch/lifecycle decisions
- Proven independent, objective insight voice
- Ability to lead complex initiatives and drive organizational change; strong prioritization and multi-project management
- Data-driven mindset; exceptional critical thinking/problem-solving
- Excellent executive communication skills
Preferred Qualifications:
- Masterβs degree in a related field
- Deep knowledge of rare diseases
- Experience with AI tools and concepts
