General Summary:
The Medical Affairs Senior Director provides medical and scientific leadership in the assigned Therapeutic Area(s), ensuring alignment of scientific and medical strategies with broader corporate and key stakeholder needs and flawless execution of Nephrology medical plans.
Key Duties And Responsibilities:
- Lead Kidney program medical affairs; support medical affairs activities for kidney indications (IgAN, AMKD, and future indications) and interpret scientific data to determine impact on product understanding
- Develop medical affairs plans, including Launch and Life Cycle Management
- Share country/region insights with global teams to reflect local needs in global strategies and activities
- Provide fair and balanced medical information and education to healthcare professionals and payers to support safe and effective use of Vertex drugs
- Support patient access by preparing/reviewing reimbursement dossiers and presenting scientific data to key access stakeholders
- Perform/oversee medical/scientific training for field medical teams, commercial, and other internal stakeholders
- Contribute to local Brand Team as TA scientific/medical expert, ensuring patient well-being and data integrity
- Ensure country-level compliance with company policies, medical affairs SOPs, GCP, and ICH
- Assess promotional materials to ensure claims are supported by scientific data and presented accurately, fairly, and balanced
Knowledge And Skills:
- Deep understanding of global medical, regulatory, and commercial (including payer) environments
- Knowledge of government/industry guidelines for scientific/medical exchange with external stakeholders
- Deep understanding of market access in key countries
- Experience writing/reviewing scientific communications
- Strong written/oral communication to influence internally/externally
- Ability to build relationships in a matrixed environment and with external leaders/industry experts
- Proven project planning and delivery track record
- Constructive conflict resolution and positive dialogue
- Ability to work in multi-disciplinary, multi-cultural teams
Education And Experience:
- M.D. or equivalent; PhD or PharmD
- Typically requires 11 years of experience or equivalent combination of education and experience
