Patient Advocacy
Position Overview
- Senior Director, Gilead Patient Solutions Public Affairs develops and executes an integrated communications and advocacy strategy across nearly 140 low- and lower-middle-income countries.
- Serve as trusted deputy/strategic partner to the Executive Director, Intercontinental Public Affairs.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Public Affairs Leadership
- Partner with GPS leadership; align communications, advocacy, NGO engagement, and stakeholder outreach.
- Identify emerging themes across markets/functions and translate insights into coordinated strategies.
- Advise executive/regional cross-functional teams; provide recommendations and communications guidance.
External Communications
- Lead external communications strategy; create compliant messages on commitments, partnerships, access initiatives, and public health impact.
- Build proactive storytelling and prepare leaders for external engagements.
NGO/Advocacy/Stakeholder Engagement
- Co-create and sustain relationships with global NGOs, patient organizations, and advocacy coalitions; ensure coordinated, compliant engagement.
Issues/Crisis/Reputation
- Proactively manage global/regional issues; establish governance/protocols and response frameworks.
- Draft/review external statements, press releases, Q&As, and reactive communications.
Internal Alignment & Measurement
- Integrate GPS priorities into enterprise narratives; develop internal toolkits/messages.
- Define objectives/KPIs, build dashboards, run governance, manage budgets and agency/external partner performance.
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelorβs + 14+ years, or Masterβs + 12+ years, or PhD + 12+ years relevant experience.
Preferred Qualifications (highlights)
- In-house public affairs/corporate/external affairs in regulated healthcare/pharma/biotech.
- Deep experience in reputation/communications/stakeholder engagement/issues management in matrixed environments.
- Experience with global NGOs/patient orgs; strong written/verbal communications; influence without direct authority.
- Ability to travel 30β40%.

Compensation/Benefits
- Salary range: $243,100.00β$314,600.00; may include discretionary bonus/stock incentives, paid time off, and company-sponsored medical/dental/vision/life insurance.
