Role Summary

Senior Director, US Field Medical who will recruit, train, and manage a team of Field Medical professionals (MSLs) to execute the company's medical strategy with an initial focus on Avexitide in post-bariatric hypoglycemia (PBH), while overseeing field medical strategy across Amylyxโ€šร„รดs broader portfolio. Drives the vision for field-based activities, oversees medical and scientific engagement with key opinion leaders, and informs business and clinical strategy. Acts as a link between the field team and cross-functional leadership.

Responsibilities

  • Strategic Leadership: Develop and execute the national field medical strategy in alignment with broader Medical Affairs and company objectives. Define vision, set strategic goals, design and report KPIs, and ensure tactical execution across the field team.
  • Team Management and Development: Recruit, hire, train, and manage a high-performing field medical team. Foster scientific excellence, accountability, and continuous learning. Provide mentorship and career development opportunities.
  • Medical and Scientific Engagement: Oversee the team's scientific exchange activities with national/regional KOLs, healthcare providers, and professional medical societies. Ensure timely, impactful data delivery and compliant communication of scientific information.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration and Leadership: Partner with Medical Affairs, Commercial, Clinical Development, R&D, Market Access, and Regulatory to support product launches, payer engagements, clinical trials, and other initiatives.
  • Insight Generation: Establish processes for gathering and disseminating field-based medical insights to inform decision-making and identify educational gaps.
  • Compliance and Operations: Ensure field activities adhere to SOPs and regulatory guidelines. Manage budgets, performance metrics, and CRM usage.

Qualifications

  • An advanced degree (PharmD, MD, PhD, or equivalent).
  • 10+ years in the pharmaceutical/biotech industry, with at least 5 years in a field medical leadership role with people management.
  • Strong understanding of drug development, clinical trial methodology, and industry regulations governing field medical activities (codes, FDA guidelines).
  • Endocrinology/obesity medicine experience strongly preferred.
  • Proven track record of leading high-performing teams; strong strategic, organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Significant travel required, up to 60% domestically.
