Responsibilities
Strategic responsibilities:
- Set field market access strategy aligned to launch/brand objectives (coverage priorities, account segmentation, payer landscape assessment, payer education, policy/pathway planning, pull-through model design, and field playbooks).
- Shape payer/provider clinical + economic value narrative; identify evidence gaps and partner with HEOR/Medical.
- Partner with Pricing/Contracting to define the fieldβs role in pre- and post-launch execution; provide real-world payer feedback.
- Define field market access operating model and governance across Market Access, Sales, Medical, and Patient Services.
- Provide payer/provider perspective to inform endpoints, data needs, and post-marketing plans.
Executional responsibilities:
- Lead account planning and high-impact engagements to secure coverage, prior authorization criteria, pathway inclusion, formulary placement within IDNs, and site-of-care alignment; escalate and resolve access barriers.
- Partner with Patient Services/HUB and Specialty Pharmacy to optimize the patient journey and minimize time-to-therapy.
- Develop training, tools, and compliant materials for field access teams and cross-functional partners.
- Build insights engine (dashboards, payer policy monitoring, feedback loops) to guide strategy and executive updates.
Leadership expectations:
- Represent the company with senior payer, PBM, and organized provider executives.
- Build and lead a results-driven team; hire, coach, develop, and retain talent.
- Lead through influence in a matrix environment; align stakeholders and drive timely decisions.
- Operate with high integrity and compliance.
- Use data/insights to anticipate risks and adapt strategy.
Qualifications
- Bachelorβs degree plus 12+ years of progressive U.S. biopharma market access/payer marketing/account management or related commercial experience.
- Advanced degree (MBA/MPH/PharmD), preferred.
- Deep understanding of U.S. payer landscape and oncology/provider reimbursement.
- Demonstrated success leading payer/provider engagements and translating strategy into field execution.
- Oncology market access experience (launch readiness and post-launch access optimization).
- Experience building/scaling a field market access team in emerging biotech.
- Experience with specialty distribution, patient services/HUB models, and specialty pharmacy operations.
- Exposure to pricing/contracting strategy (e.g., rebates, fees, performance guarantees).
- Ability to travel regularly.
Skills/Knowledge
- Experience leading field market access strategy/execution for a specialty launch or major indication expansion.
- Experience owning relationships with national/regional payers and organized provider decision-makers.
- Experience developing account plans and tracking payer policy/performance to improve coverage and access.
- Ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced, ambiguous, resource-conscious biotech environment.
