Senior Director, Capital Projects

Responsibilities:
- Develop long-term facility and capacity planning aligned with corporate growth strategy
- Provide significant input on yearly capital equipment spend; work with finance to develop ROI cases
- Own and execute capital projects, including business cases, feasibility, design, and construction as applicable
- Provide ongoing oversight for contractors, contingent workers, and/or workforce executing capital projects
- Direct multiple functional teams (capital projects, facilities engineering, validation) in a matrixed organization
- Lead the capital projects review board for governance and execution; serve as key interface between capital projects and senior leadership
- Partner with Finance to plan and manage cash spend/commitments; own capital project budgets as appropriate
- Oversee plant utilities commissioning, qualification, and validation (risk assessments, user requirement specs, design/installation/operational/performance qualification, validation summary reports)
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related science with 15+ years relevant experience (construction project management degree preferred; equivalent experience acceptable)
- Demonstrated experience delivering capital projects in the cGMP biopharmaceutical sector
- Experience leading capital projects end-to-end (budgeting, design, construction, commissioning, validation); operational engineering and building systems knowledge (MEP, HVAC, fire/life safety, waste management, QA requirements)
- Strong knowledge of biologics manufacturing equipment and dedicated utilities (HVAC, WFI, pure steam, clean compressed air, process gases, chilled water, boilers, wastewater treatment)
- Understanding of US FDA CFRs including ICH guidelines
- Working knowledge of Quality Assurance standards and risk assessment; experience with QMS/CMMS
- Experience directing teams in matrixed organizations and/or managing individuals/work groups/project teams
- Motivated self-starter; ability to operate in a fast-paced environment
- Strong interpersonal, team, and communication skills
- Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, MS Project)
