Responsibilities:
- Source, evaluate, and secure access to external assets and technologies for acquisition or partnership.
- Monitor the oncology landscape for emerging therapeutic targets, clinical trial updates, and market trends (focus on Asia) to identify aligned opportunities.
- Build and maintain external relationships across biotech/pharma, academia, and investors; represent the company at scientific/partnering conferences.
- Work with R&D and commercial leadership to develop and execute the business development strategy.
- Proactively identify and assess oncology opportunities (assets, platforms, technologies) aligned with company priorities.
- Lead scientific, clinical, and commercial due diligence with cross-functional input (R&D, Commercial, Legal).
- Synthesize complex information and provide recommendations for decision-making; ensure clear communication with stakeholders.
- Support deal structuring, risk mitigation, and negotiations for licensing, acquisitions, and collaborations; assist in timely agreement execution.
- Scale regional capabilities and mentor junior team members.
Qualifications (Education/Experience):
- BA/BS (life sciences/biology/biochemistry/pharmacology/oncology or related) + 15 years; or MA/MS + 13 years; or PhD + 12 years; or MD + 8 years; or equivalent education/experience.
- Minimum 12 years combined oncology (or related) and biotech/pharma industry experience.
- Minimum 5 years business development experience (deal sourcing, scientific assessment, co-leading term sheet/contract negotiations) or related field (e.g., commercial analysis) in pharma/biotech, investment bank, venture capital, or private equity.
- Established experience closing partnering transactions.
Skills/Abilities (Required/Preferred):
- Deep understanding of oncology drug development (discovery, clinical development, regulatory, IP, CMC, commercialization).
- Ability to analyze/synthesize complex scientific, clinical, and commercial information; assess strengths/weaknesses, portfolio fit, risks, and go/no-go criteria.
- Experience co-leading term sheet negotiations/contracts.
- Exceptional oral/written communication, organization, and project management; strong interpersonal skills.
- Ability to influence without authority, lead effectively, and thrive in a fast-paced matrix environment.
Travel:
- 30% travel required.
