Environmental Scientist
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and maintain site-wide environmental compliance programs, including air, water, wastewater, stormwater, and hazardous waste.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local environmental regulations and site permits.
- Serve as the primary interface with regulatory agencies and manage inspections, reporting, and correspondence.
- Own environmental permitting, compliance assessments, audits, and corrective actions.
- Provide technical guidance and training to operations, engineering, and site partners.
- Support environmental aspects of projects, expansions, and operational changes.
- Track regulatory changes and proactively assess site impact and response needs.
- Manage the 3rd-party contract for site waste disposal services (hazardous and non-hazardous waste).
- Serve as Emergency Response Coordinator for RCRA compliance.
Qualifications (Basic)
- Bachelorβs degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, Chemistry, or a related field.
- Experience managing environmental compliance programs in a regulated manufacturing or pharmaceutical environment.
- Strong working knowledge of EPA and North Carolina environmental regulations.
- Proven experience with permitting, reporting, and regulatory agency engagement.
Additional Information / Schedule
- Monday through Friday; occasional extended hours and/or off-hour work may be required.
- Based at the RTP site; travel to Indianapolis and other global Lilly sites as required.
Compensation & Benefits (as stated)
- Anticipated wage: $65,250 - $169,400.
- Full-time employees may be eligible for a company bonus (depending on company and individual performance).
