Job Summary
- The Rare Disease Specialist will compliantly market BioCryst products to customers in the Hudson Valley, NY area. Candidates must live in proximity to the Hudson Valley area in NY.
Salary Range
- $182,000-$210,000.00
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Have “game changing” conversations with customers, using effective selling techniques and marketing strategies to create and expand demand for promoted brands.
- Develop and expand understanding of key customers.
- Create, maintain, and update an active customer database.
- Develop strategies to utilize marketing materials and programs.
- Master key account management.
- Develop business plans with resource allocations linked to business results.
- Build strong relationships with key decision makers and opinion leaders.
- Arrange and coordinate promotional programs within promotional and regulatory guidelines.
- Conduct field activities (e.g., lunch and learns, customer in-services, other compliant customer interactions).
- Complete expense reports and required administrative reports accurately and timely.
- Report call information timely.
- Attend training programs, conventions, and symposia, as requested.
- Demonstrate accountability, urgency, and commitment to achieve business objectives.
- Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders.
- Use resources and share best practices to achieve or exceed business goals.
- Adhere to company compliance guidelines, policy, and procedures.
- Other duties as assigned.
Experience & Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent required.
- Minimum 5 years pharmaceutical/biotech selling experience.
- Rare Disease and small company experience preferred.
- Academic/teaching institution experience preferred.
- Start-up commercial experience a plus.
- Existing relationships with key accounts in assigned geography helpful.
- Proven track record exceeding sales goals (e.g., President’s Club).
- Demonstrated success selling in a territory as the sole commercial salesperson.
- Ability to formulate and implement effective rare disease sales skills/results.
- Knowledge of relevant disease states and current treatments.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Strong business and analytical ability.
- Ability to create/innovate and build/expand business independently and in teams.
- Ability to quickly assimilate complex information.
- Excellent negotiation skills.
- Knowledge of reimbursement and territory.
- Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
- Ability to travel as necessary (overnight and/or weekend).
