Brief Description
The Regional Sales Manager (Epilepsy) leads and develops a high-performing, patient-driven Rare Disease Sales Team within the Epilepsy and Movement Disorders (EMD) Business Unit. Shapes regional (US) sales strategy and leads execution to ensure US commercial success; navigates large institutions and IDNs; manages accounts/systems.
Responsibilities
- Lead and manage Neurology Account Managers and Care System Liaison (recruit, hire, develop, coach, evaluate).
- Develop, lead, and execute a local market sales plan with goals/targets for launch and growth.
- Build a people-valued, patient-driven culture; lead with authenticity and an agile approach.
- Foster an entrepreneurial, ownership-focused culture and maintain open communication with subordinates, peers, and leadership.
- Apply deep knowledge of disease state, product, rare/orphan market, competition, and healthcare landscape.
- Engage KOLs/customers: build relationships with thought leaders and devote time to HCP engagement.
- Coach and develop sales team competencies.
- Collaborate cross-functionally (Market Access, Marketing, Sales Training, Medical Affairs, Patient Access, Government Affairs, Compliance) to meet objectives compliantly.
- Analyze and leverage data (sales analytics, CRM reports, business statistics, customer feedback) to guide strategy and execution.
- Manage promotional and T&E budgets per compliance policies.
- Maintain high ethical/performance standards and role-model compliance.
Qualifications / Skills
- 10+ years progressive biotech/pharma sales and sales leadership.
- Proven biotech/pharma product launch success (preferably rare disease).
- 5+ years leading sales teams with a track record of exceeding goals.
- 6+ years epilepsy leadership; rare disease and/or epilepsy experience required.
- Preferred: product marketing, sales training, commercial operations; academic/institutional experience required.
- Experience with local/national patient advocacy groups; strong Epilepsy community relationships preferred.
- Exemplary leadership; high clinical and business acumen; learning agility.
- Strong performance management (close performance gaps).
- Excellent verbal/written communication.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
Education
- Bachelorβs degree required; MBA/advanced degree preferred.
Travel
- Up to 75% travel; some evenings/weekends for meetings/conferences/advocacy events.
