Role Summary

Regional Sales Director

In this role, the Regional Sales Director will develop the regional business strategy, and hire and lead a team of high-performing Area Business Managers to achieve/exceed business and sales goals. You will work closely with commercial leadership and collaborate with other senior leaders across the organization to develop and execute strategies and initiatives that contribute to the overall performance, culture and success of the organization. The Regional Sales Director will be a working leader with a player/coach mentality, participating in field-based activities and managing high value regional accounts and relationships with local thought leaders. You will use analytics, market research, and local geographic trends to identify opportunities and create detailed business plans for launch, collaborating across functions to develop materials and customer-focused initiatives for a diverse range of healthcare professionals.

Responsibilities

  • Source, recruit and hire a team of Area Business Managers who promote the company’s product(s) to targeted healthcare professionals.
  • Lead the region as a working leader, meeting with top regional accounts and HCPs/staff.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional field-facing partners to develop customer-focused initiatives and ensure a positive customer experience.
  • Review and analyze district performance and market data to develop sales strategies to meet or exceed objectives.
  • Develop and coach individual contributors using an established plan; manage performance with urgency and consistency.
  • Attract and retain top talent while driving sales results; demonstrate clinical acumen and mastery of product knowledge.
  • Demonstrate patient-centric thinking; utilize sales and marketing tools to educate healthcare professionals.
  • Establish and cultivate strategic relationships with physicians and other healthcare professionals within the designated geography.
  • Attend company-sponsored sales and medical meetings; participate in live conferences as needed.
  • Comply with all legal, regulatory and compliance policies with integrity and professionalism.
  • Spearhead cross-functional collaboration and advocate for the customer engagement model.
  • Additional duties as required.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • 5+ years of first-line management experience.
  • 10+ years of pharmaceutical/biopharmaceutical, medical or related sales experience.
  • GI/Hepatology experience strongly preferred.
  • Prior launch experience is required.
  • Local experience with success and access to regional thought leaders strongly preferred.
  • Ability to use performance and market data to create actionable business plans.
  • Proven track record of leading sales leaders and teams with initiative, accountability and ethical actions.
  • Ability to learn complex scientific information and communicate to healthcare professionals.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to influence in virtual settings.
  • Collaborative, working leader mindset.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to travel as needed (including overnights/weekends).
  • Overnight travel up to 50-65% expected.
  • Frequent travel between meeting sites; ability to sit for extended periods.
  • Frequent use of computer, telephone, and office equipment.
  • Ability to lift up to 20 pounds.
