Role Summary

Regional Pediatric Specialist โ€“ Detroit. This role focuses on maximizing prescriptions/referrals within key accounts, representing BioMarin commercialized products in the region, with a consultative selling approach to HCPs involved in Achondroplasia care and related pediatrics.

The ideal candidate has pediatric sales experience or comparable experience, strong knowledge of the disease state, and the ability to deliver clinical content in an actionable way to drive product adoption at the local level. Requires cold calling and working with a multi-state territory, with travel as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Achieve territory goals measured in referrals and new prescriptions with Pediatric/Generalist HCPs
  • Grow new Achondroplasia sites and educate clinicians on consistent treatment regionally
  • Drive product awareness among assigned targeted HCPs
  • Profile accounts and maintain target lists to reach correct audiences at appropriate frequency
  • Validate HCP suitability for product education and increase urgency to treat/refert
  • Track activities in CRM to understand referral patterns and monitor performance metrics
  • Adhere to industry regulations, training, policies, and guidelines; exercise professional judgment within company policies
  • Operate with adaptability as the organization evolves

The BioMarin Pediatric Specialist will also act as a Regional Player/Coach to train and develop contracted Ped Specialists, including:

  • Develop regional business plan to guide strategy and track progress across contracted PSS
  • Regional team check-ins and 1:1 coaching
  • Monitor PSS planning and share insights with National Sales Leader to optimize utilization
  • Provide field-based coaching and ensure PSS drive impact
  • Collaborate with Regional Directors to prioritize clinics for continued education to support AMs
  • Balance robust opportunities with accounts needing additional education

SCOPE

  • Possible evenings and weekends for educational events (in person or virtual)
  • Manage a multi-state territory with a diverse customer base
  • Overnight travel 30โ€“50% depending on geography; advanced virtual skills required

Qualifications

  • Required: Bachelorโ€™s degree
  • Preferred: 2-4 years pharma experience focused on primary care call points; pediatrics/generalists experience strongly preferred
  • Strong B2B experience with interest in pharma (device, diagnostics background acceptable)
  • Cold calling experience in healthcare or equivalent
  • Experience with office-based selling in a complex referral model
  • Experience in a field team model with account managers
