The Regional Medical Affairs Director (RMAD) is responsible for developing and enhancing professional relationships with key thought-leaders, institutions, and organizations in their assigned geographical region through medical and scientific engagement.
Essential Job Functions
- Foster collaborative relationships with institutions, Centers of Excellence, thought leaders, and key decision makers across medical, education, clinical research, and real-world experience.
- Provide medical information through fair-balanced scientific exchange and clinical/scientific support; respond to informational requests, including pipeline/off-label.
- Deliver medical presentations to diverse HCP audiences, including decision makers, medical societies, and advocacy groups.
- Provide scientific and liaison support for Xeris clinical research, including thought leader/investigator engagement, follow-up, and support for Investigator Initiated Studies (IISs).
- Maintain cross-functional collaboration to provide scientific expertise and medical support across Medical Affairs, Clinical Development, Commercial, and other internal stakeholders.
- Obtain, assimilate, organize, and report competitive and scientific intelligence in a compliant manner.
- Attend and participate in medical/scientific meetings and conferences to gather data, identify trends, and support scientific exchange.
- Contribute to internal training and speaker training initiatives.
- Support TL participation in advisory boards, consultant meetings, and other scientific meetings.
- Maintain clinical/scientific expertise and provide strategic insights into emerging data and trends.
- Collaborate with TLs and Medical Communications on publications.
- Participate in assigned Medical Affairs projects and complete required reporting.
Skills and Qualifications
- Advanced degree (MD, PhD, PharmD, DNP) strongly preferred.
- <2 years experience (Associate Director) or 2+ years (Director) in field medical/medical affairs pharmaceutical industry (residency/fellowship also welcomed).
- Active clinical care, clinical research, or academia experience preferred.
- Strong understanding of regional medical practice and healthcare systems.
- Demonstrated understanding of clinical trial and/or laboratory research design and execution.
- Extensive endocrinology knowledge (including Cushing’s Disease) and field medical affairs strongly preferred.
- Competencies: customer service focus, teamwork/collaboration, written/verbal communication, presentation, time management, self-starter.
