Medical Affairs
Responsibilities:
- Lead, mentor, and manage a team of MSLs (N=6); set territory plan, objectives, and KPI expectations.
- Conduct performance evaluations; identify skill gaps; coach, train, and support MSL development.
- Collaborate with Medical Affairs Operations to align MSL activities with organizational priorities.
- Serve as disease state and product expert; provide strategic input to MSL educational initiatives and product launch planning.
- Contribute to Field Medical Strategy and Tactics; ensure integration of latest scientific/clinical data into regional and national initiatives.
- Partner to oversee the Medical Strategy Tactical Team (MSTT) and translate insights into actionable plans.
- Collaborate on field medical training; provide resource support to the field team.
- Support medical conference strategy; attend conferences to provide scientific expertise and collaborate with ECPs.
- Identify gaps in ECP education/clinical evidence and propose solutions; collaborate on disease state/product education.
- Provide strategic oversight of MSL engagement with KOLs, ECPs, clinician scientists, and researchers.
- Oversee participation in scientific congresses and advisory boards; stay current on literature and KOL engagement opportunities.
- Oversee adherence to pharmacovigilance/safety requirements and accurate adverse event reporting.
- Ensure MSL activities comply with regulatory/ethical standards including GxP and HIPAA.
- Provide updates to Medical Affairs leadership with metrics on impact/outcomes.
Qualifications:
- OD, PhD, PharmD, MD, or other advanced degree in a relevant scientific discipline with experience in Eyecare.
- 10+ years in Medical Affairs or related roles; 5+ years leading MSL teams.
- In-depth Eye Care/Ophthalmology/Optometry knowledge (preferred).
- Prior experience leading a Field Medical Team in a biopharmaceutical company (preferred).
- Proven relationship-building with KOLs and ECPs.
- Cross-functional experience with commercial, clinical, regulatory, and other business functions.
Skills/Leadership:
- Strong decision-making, collaboration/team building, outcome focus, empowering others, and emotional intelligence.
Other:
- Primarily remote; travel ~50β75% for KOL engagement, field rides, scientific meetings, and team management.
Benefits:
- Base pay range: $203,200β$284,600 plus bonus, stock equity, and comprehensive benefits (health, dental, vision) and generous paid time off (vacation/holidays/personal days).
