Regional Business Director (Great Lakes region)
Objectives:
- Achieve Business Unit sales objectives through planning and implementing Quarterly Business Reviews and coaching.
- Build and lead the regional sales team; support and coach sales team members; establish and manage relationships with key customers/professionals/internal stakeholders; manage regional sales operations (policies/procedures, budgets, sales/account data).
Accountabilities:
- Plan, direct, implement, and oversee sales representative activities/policies for a specific geography.
- Implement regional marketing strategies/plans to meet quarterly and yearly sales objectives.
- Review sales plan implementation quarterly; analyze territories to find additional business and improve rep effectiveness.
- Maintain in-depth knowledge of local customers and networks.
- Communicate personnel/product/market activity and issues to management; coordinate selling efforts with managed care and national accounts.
- Set performance expectations/standards; observe, document, and provide feedback; counsel and coach reps.
- Recruit, train, and manage performance; manage expenses within budget.
- Plan/conduct POA/launch meetings; act as liaison between corporate office and field sales.
Education & Skills
Required:
- Bachelor’s degree (BS/BA)
- 3–5 years as a pharmaceutical representative with a proven sales track record
- Experience selling or managing reps in an institutional environment
- Strategic/business planning; ability to coach/delegate/motivate; analyze complex data
- Strong verbal/written/presentation skills
- Reside within or close proximity to assigned geography
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite
Preferred:
- 2–3 years district/pharmaceutical district management
- Product launch/turnaround experience; Rare Disease and GI experience
- MBA or Master’s degree
Licenses/Certifications:
- Valid Driver’s License
Travel Requirements:
- Some overnight travel; may require evenings/weekends; work from home office when not traveling.
