Objectives
- Achieve Business Unit sales objectives through planning and implementing Quarterly Business Reviews and coaching.
- Build and lead the regional sales team; support/coach Regional Business Managers; establish/manage relationships with key customers and internal stakeholders; manage regional sales business operations (policies/procedures, budgets, sales and account data).
Accountabilities
- Plan, direct, implement, and oversee sales representative activities and policies for a specific geography.
- Implement regional marketing strategies to meet quarterly and yearly sales objectives.
- Review and execute the sales plan quarterly; analyze territories to grow business and improve rep effectiveness.
- Maintain in-depth knowledge of local customers/networks.
- Communicate personnel/product/market activity and issues to management.
- Coordinate selling efforts with managed care and national accounts.
- Set performance expectations; observe/document/provide feedback; counsel/coach reps for development.
- Recruit, train, and manage performance to build effective teams.
- Manage expenses per budget; conduct POA/launch meetings.
- Serve as liaison between corporate office and field sales.
Education & Skills
Required
- Bachelor’s degree (BS/BA).
- 3–5 years as a pharmaceutical representative with proven sales success.
- Experience selling/managing reps in an institutional environment.
- Business/strategic planning; ability to coach/delegate/motivate; analyze complex data.
- Strong verbal/written/presentation skills; reside within/close to assigned geography.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite.
Preferred
- 2–3 years district management experience.
- Product launch/turnaround experience; Rare Disease and GI experience.
- MBA or Master’s degree.
Licenses/Travel
- Valid Driver’s License.
- Some overnight travel; may work evenings/weekends as needed; work from home office when not traveling.
