Regional Business Director (RBD) β€” Job Functions/Responsibilities
- Translate national/zone priorities into a focused regional business plan (objectives, account priorities, resource allocation, measures of success).
- Set an operating rhythm: field coaching, business reviews, performance tracking, opportunity planning, rapid course correction.
- Use data, market intelligence, and field insights to identify growth opportunities and anticipate barriers.
- Own regional results and resource stewardship (budget management, forecasting, alignment to highest-impact opportunities).
- Recruit, onboard, develop, engage, and retain Regional Account Managers with clinical credibility, business judgment, and patient focus.
- Provide in-field coaching and candid feedback; address capability gaps.
- Create individualized development plans, provide stretch opportunities, and build succession readiness.
- Set clear expectations; hold self/team accountable; address performance concerns promptly and fairly.
- Ensure account strategies reflect local patient journeys, referral networks, access dynamics, customer needs, and competition.
- Improve customer engagement quality/consistency across pediatric/adult hepatology and gastroenterology (priority systems, centers of excellence).
- Coordinate compliantly across partners to remove barriers from identification to treatment initiation and persistence.
- Coach clinically relevant communication and tailoring of engagement.
- Build partnerships across Marketing, Medical Affairs, Market Access, Patient Services, Commercial Training & Effectiveness, Operations, Analytics, and Advocacy.
- Model ethical conduct and compliance with laws, regulations, and approved promotional practices.

Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree preferred.
- 10+ years progressive pharma/biotech commercial experience.
- 3+ years first-line sales leadership with responsibility for field team performance and talent development.
- Experience coaching in the field and developing future leaders.
- Rare disease/orphan drug/high-science commercial experience; hepatology/gastroenterology/pediatric specialty or other complex specialty markets.
- Experience leading through launch/indication expansion/organizational change.
- Knowledge of account-based selling, health-system dynamics, referral networks, centers of excellence, and patient services in rare disease.
- Ability to interpret business data and translate insights into regional strategy/execution.
- Excellent communication/executive presence/judgment/organization; prioritize in fast-moving environments.
- Valid driver’s license; travel up to 70% (frequent overnight; occasional weekend).
