Rare Disease Business Manager, Sleep Disorders (RDBM)
Role Responsibilities / How you will contribute:
- Drive sales and territory growth for narcolepsy type 1 through execution of sales strategies and tactics.
- Collaborate with the Regional Business Leader and cross-functional teams to ensure HCPs are educated and patients have access to the approved therapeutic option.
- Following regulatory approval, generate demand by educating and informing healthcare professionals with clinical and product knowledge (including the orexin system and narcolepsy type 1).
- Implement sales and marketing plans using approved, on-label materials to achieve monthly/quarterly/annual sales goals; execute brand strategies within the assigned geographic territory.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with and educate specialty HCPs (sleep specialists, neurologists, pulmonologists, sleep centers, and clinic staff).
- Analyze local/regional/national trends using data to identify business opportunities and tailor territory strategies.
- Use strong communication skills and a CRM to document account profiles, create pre-call plans, and record post-call activities.
- Manage a territory budget consistent with applicable policies.
- Partner with Patient Access, Market Access, and Marketing to align strategies; provide feedback to Sales/Marketing leadership to support tactics and performance.
- Follow compliance requirements, uphold patient-first values, and seek clarification when uncertain.
Qualifications (Required):
- Bachelorโs degree (BS/BA).
- 3+ years of successful selling experience in pharmaceutical/biotech/medical device and/or relevant clinical or industry experience; OR 2+ years of successful selling experience at Takeda.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to navigate complex sales environments and influence decision makers in key accounts.
- Strong business acumen and strategic planning; ability to interpret analytical data.
- Demonstrated territory planning, strategic account management, and prioritization.
- Strong collaboration skills in a matrix environment.
- Understanding of payer access and reimbursement at territory/regional/state levels.
- Adaptability to changing market conditions and customer needs.
- Learning agility to develop and compliantly apply clinical expertise and selling skills.
- Must reside within the territory or close proximity to assigned geography.
Qualifications (Preferred):
- 5+ years of pharmaceutical sales experience (preferably rare disease or sleep disorders).
- Experience coordinating patient access and market access for pharma/biologic products.
- Relevant clinical or industry experience; consultative/needs-based selling.
- Experience in a highly regulated marketplace.
- Experience leveraging emerging technologies, digital tools, and AI-enabled processes.
Travel Requirements:
- Ability to drive and/or fly to accounts; occasional business meetings.
- Overnight travel up to 25โ50% depending on geographic assignment.
Training Requirements:
- Employment is contingent on passing mandatory product training (written and oral exams).
